Abrego Garcia's union has been steadfast in supporting him.

I really liked the following thought shared in this post. It seems so very accurate. "Some might say that setting the menu is the restaurant owner's job. Exactly. We—not corporations and billionaires—are supposed to be the owners of our democracy."

All this is very true, and yet in the early days of dictatorships so much of the working class support the dictators. I have trouble wrapping my head around that.

First, they destroy support for government and convince working people that government is their enemy. They do this two ways: first, by endless anti-government propaganda; and second, by destroying from within, cutting programs that benefit people, running huge deficits, and tying up government functions. The GOP has been doing both for decades.

Interesting point about owning our democracy and good explanation of how union workers also are more likely to be involved in community and politics. I can see that from one parent in a large union.

We need some kind of union for consumers...let me explain...it's so hard to work around Amazon, Walmart, big box stores and grocers that have consolidated. So many restaurants are corporate now it's hard to work around. They profit off me, while paying workers a pittance and the money they make leaves my community. I'm doing my best to buy local but the choices are so few.

Good point about buying local but not about a consumers' union--just my thought.
