If I hadn’t already, I would subscribe for this feature alone.

Yes, Sarah, totally! But also, as trump despises dogs, cats, living beings, celebrating dogs + helping CA fires' pets is trump opposition.

doing anything nice is trump oposition

Philosopher's avatar

You are right: it works against his poison and it also keeps us decent people!

Ann Hasley's avatar

My husband just remarked even smiling is Trump opposition.

Don A in Pennsultucky's avatar

For the past several months I have been smiling at strangers. They often smile back.

Ann Hasley's avatar

Wonderful. That’s what we have to do, while we are engaging for democracy and common sense government.

Yes. simply giving a smile to a stranger is a healing gift this country needs more than ever. Thank you, patricia, Philosopher, Ann and Don, for mentioning it. I'm sending a smile to everyone supporting the Contrarian. : )

I never have trouble smiling at strangers. But sadly, Trump's dangerous, sociopathic behavior forced me to stop talking to my kind, funny, supportive, non-violent (devoted Trump supporting, evangelical) best friend for a long time. I had to do it on January 6, 2021 for my own peace of mind.

However, when my friend called two years later to tell me about the death of a person who was very special to both of us, I felt our friendship was too important to continue the silence and we gradually resumed talking. We both appreciate continuing such an important bond. So I'm learning how to direct my anger and disgust only at Trump and the political cowards who support him, and not at my friend.

Life is short. Trump has a lot of power and money, but he has no real friends. I'm a lot richer than he will ever be because of my friendships. I won't ever let him take those away from me again.

Remember when he was lying his was way into the White House the first time and some nincompoop, figured to prove how "patriotic" he was, there should be a photo shoot with a bald eagle? The eagle attacked. He cowered like the vants, Yiddish for bedbug, pronounced vahns or vance (I didn't make this up!) he is.

Julie Barnes Weaver's avatar

😂😂😂 I remember that moment, and just about fell off the sofa laughing. And now our official national bird - even back then - knew to attack something that was smelly and old and rotting. 🦅

It made the rounds on social media again not too long ago. I probably watched it ten times at least. Such a beautiful and hilarious moment.

My recently deceased sweet daddy used to call us "you vahnce" when we were kids, in an affectionate way. I was so accustomed to it that I never asked for a direct translation. I just looked it up and it means "bedbug," but in an endearing way. I thought it was because we were wild! How funny that dumb*ss J.D.'s last name means "bedbug"! 😆

Very serious affect (great doggie deception technique - 😃) Such an unusual coat! Never saw a brindle setter.

That's a lovely red belton. What a treat to have a smile hidden in the newsy info!

Fake news-raw chicken assaulted Amos

Anne-Louise Luccarini's avatar

Or: Defenceless pet assaulted by naked chicken. Denies wrongdoing.

Anne-Louise Luccarini's avatar

Hey! Friends! Good to meet up here too.

Doug G's avatar

Same, Anne-Louise! Cheers to you, and good luck to us all!

Gay Ludington's avatar

Good one! 🫶😸😻🙀

Dawn Erickson's avatar

Look! This chicken jumped in my mouth!

Jenn Z's avatar

Or, for us raw feeders of our dogs and cats, we just call that a "prey model" meal :) The bones are safe, as long as they're raw, but it sounds like Amos was too polite to consume his prize.

Amos' best moment!

Ginger Proffitt's avatar

I’m sure you already know this but Amos is so handsome!!! We donated to the Pasadena Humane Society. We feel awful for all of the affected animals.

Kathi Miller's avatar

We donated there too, Ginger. They have sent us updates on what they are doing too. As the mom of three feral kitty girls who are now inside, we’d do anything for our furry friends and hope our donations help their people parents too

Larry McGinnity's avatar

Also donated thru info here. Remember that almost every house that burned, and many of those who tragically died, also had a pet animal(s).

Joan Oustifine's avatar

I donated too! As the owner of multiple dogs and cats, most of whom are no longer with us, I can't imagine the heartbreak of families wondering where their pets are, not to mention the pets wondering what happened to their people

Sandra Hardie's avatar

I did too. And to Jose Andreas World Central Kitchen. Two of the very best things for stranded human beings, a hot meal and a saved dog (or cat). Does nice things to the psyche of those who are not stranded too.

JA's avatar

Ditto. Everyone should send a check! Info on internet site. Good, good deed.

Ginger Proffitt's avatar

Yes! We are also supporters of WCK. They are the first responders of the food world.

Amos was just pointing out that you had left something on the kitchen counter. In my house, I would have returned to the kitchen to find nothing on the counter and a few canines looking as innocent as they could possibly manage. 😁

MegC's avatar

Amos is innocent! He saw the chicken sneaking up on you and grabbed it to save you.

I kinda think it was more a rescue, Amos didn't think it was a good idea for the chicken to cross the road merely to get to the other side. So to protect said chicken he brought it to Mom & Dad. I repeat, who's a good boy!!!!?

Glenda Funk's avatar

The chicken had it coming, right, Amos?

Domenica Alioto's avatar

Thank you! We will add that.

Tasmin Gardner's avatar

Thanks for that link. I just donated. 🐾

LOVE the sorrowful look on his face...who would NOT love such a dog! 2 cats (one orange one russian blue) but we love dogs...

Susan Jane's avatar

I needed to see such a face today. Amos is a love. My Aussie girl says hi.

Frank Starr's avatar

Welcome, Amos! Glad to have you on board. Having you here makes the rest of us contrarians more human!

Oh, Amos, you are adorable!!! Hugs to you!

I'm very impressed that you delivered the raw chicken 🍗 to your folks! That took a lot of will power!

Who's a good dog???? Why you are of course!!!!

How could you get mad at those sad eyes? OMG! What a sweetie.
