At the rate the fascists are going in the states, on the federal level and at the McConnell/Roberts court, in just a few years the fascists are going to have 80% of all elective offices.

While I think it is great that there are so many independent voices heard on places like Substack, Instagram, Bluesky, etc., the average reader simply can't afford to pay for all the voices that need to be heard. I myself subscribe to The Contrarian, Jim Acosta, Ann Telnaes and Pete Buttigieg. It all adds up to far more than I used to pay for The Washington Post.
My suggestion would be for everyone to get together on one independent and non-profit site. That way, many needed voices could be heard at a cost most of us could afford and there would still be enough to continue funding Norm Eisen's Democracy Defenders, etc.
In other words, the ONLY TRULY AND TOTALLY INDEPENDENT news site in the entire country.
There's no giving up yet. The midterm election hasn't taken place and the votes, of course, haven't been counted. There is optimism that there is enough MAGA dissent that a few will leave the cult, and those who didn't vote in 2024 will be motivated by what's been happening to get off of their couches (and butts) and vote for a return of democracy. We do need to keep piling on the message that our resistance has produced.
I wish I could be as optimistic as you are, but I am losing it fast. Especially with the Epstein/Maxwell disaster. I am very much afraid the OF is going to pardon her, so she will say he was not party to having sex with Epstein's underage girls. I'm also afraid the truth and the names of Epstein's paying clientele will never come out. Nothing seems to get through this fascist dictator's Teflon.

As for Ghislaine Maxwell, it's true that she has lied before, so anything she has to recount will checked for veracity. The Republicans in the House (unless they're playing to bad theater as usual) seem to want to investigate. They may not like what they find at all.
I find it hilarious that Bill and Hillary Clinton have been subpoenaed to appear before the Comer committee. After 35 years, it's still always only the Clintons. Great way to cover up the OF's involvement or any of the other white boy's club members who paid Epstein fortunes.
This is what "good trouble" looks like. The Democrats blocking a quorum are looking out for their voters. At risk is their own safety; they have likewise displaced themselves from their homes. As an Illinois resident, I'm proud that they are here and that our governor, J.B. Pritzker is standing with them. If they were in my town, I would feed them. The house is small but two of them would be welcome to the beds. I'd be happy to take the air mattress. These are brave people.
Is there any chance at all that this extreme gerrymandering will backfire, much as Musk's interference in Wisconsin? Even Texas voters don't like to be so obviously manipulated.
Good for those legislators in Texas who stood up (and walked out) to fulfill their oaths to support our Constitution! Our Constitution supports them as strongly as they are supporting it. Regarding the illegality and criminality of partisan gerrymandering, please consider the following:
