Not only are people with disabilities losing their food stamps, but starting Oct. 1, the NC legislature cut residential provider rates 3 to 10% for the Medicaid Home and Community Based Service waiver. My son, aged 50, has autism, CP, Intellectual disabilities, and other severe disabilities. His provider hires Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) for his 24/7 care. Without this care, he would be forced to live in a more expensive institution, nursing home, or large segregated group home away from his family and community. Hitler started with people with disabilities to create his pure master race. When members of the Trump administration call my son a "parasite", talk about "involuntary lethal injections" and even "gas chambers," there is historical proof from WW2 that this happened. All the hope and progress of the last 50 years in ADA, IDEA, and DEI is gone. We are the "other"; we are the definition of "diversity, equality, and inclusion." We are the most vulnerable, and we are scared to death.
NC has changed its Constitution that was supposed to end gerrymandering; but the NC Supreme Court violated NC's own Constitution. I guess the NC Supreme Court figures if the six Christian Nationalists on the US Supreme Court can violate the US Constitution, the NC GOP Supreme Court can violate the NC Constitution.
Hunters helping the hungry program in Alabama. If you are a hunter you can bring your kill to a meat processing plant to have a legally procured deer processed into ground venison where it is distributed to a local food banks where it is frozen. The hunter is not charged anything. The outdoor Alabama website will give you a list of deer meat processors. Other states may have similar programs like ours.
Something that I do is go through my pantry stock and foods that are a bit short dated but still well within the expiration date I gather them up and donate to the local food bank. Things like green beans, canned tomatoes, canned corn, peas, beans, carrots as well as canned fruits, tuna, and salmon, less often sardines and spam. Cereals and oats. These are items I have donated to food banks and shelters for children until they are placed into foster care.
Anderson Clayton is easily one of the best things that has happened to North Carolina in ages. She is, as they say, Fighting the Good Fight. Every single day.
We lived in NC from 2015 until earlier this year, when we moved back to the Metro DC/Northern Virginia area. During that time, our Congressional, State Senate and State House districts were in constant state of flux, the Republicans re-Gerrymandering things every time you turned around. We loved in a county just south of Raleigh, Harnett County, where Anderson made several visits when we lived there. She is the real deal and it is, if possible, even worse than what she said in her remarks.
Although NC is actually pretty much a Purple State, the Republicans have turned it, politically, into something similar to how it was during the Jim Crow days, with a reactionary, autocratic, corrupt party running things.
Anderson is not simply brave, she is courageous. She is young, dynamic, and smart. If anyone can turn the Red Tide in NC, it will be Anderson and those fellow citizens who are standing up to Phil Berger, who thinks that he is the fuehrer of NC, and those DixieRepubicans who have turned the state into a mini-Banana Republic.
Mister thinks that people starving is "leverage." That's not negotiation, that's extortion. They are his own people. Where's the leverage there?

We love you, Anderson!
We are fans too!
Congress should be donating for EVERYTHING until they actually do SOMETHING.

Get 'em, Anderson!
