I just wrote to a friend how at this time of the year publications put "Best of" or "Recap" or "The Year in" - and it all seems wrong for 2025. So much of what happened in 2025 has left painful sears in our memories - we don't need reminders. But these posters are SHINEY BRIGHT LIGHTS in an otherwise bleak year. Now just for fun - let's bypass Trump and vote on who ranks as the 1st runner-up for Biggest Villain in Trump's 2nd term! I vote Russel Vought. Lot of competition out there...
I've compiled photos of so many signs from the marches I've been to and also from blogs and newsletters over the last 11 months proof positive that Americans are fabulously creative, filled with great humor, and hold a great determination for dissent. They kept me sane when nothing else could. I so hope that someone will eventually collect all of them into a large coffee table book to document the Resistance of 2025 although it might take two editions to fit every one of them in.
This was great! Just one more reason to attend some protests in 2026. Celebrate the creative brilliance of our fellow patriots (and Contrarians)! Best to all of us in 2026.
In spite of AI, in spite of deadening screens, in spite of computer-generated special effects in movies .... creativity in the American people is not dead! I go to rallies and protests in support of democracy but at least part of why I am there is to see and appreciate the signs!
