Every American should do a pilgrimage to Montgomery Legacy Museum and surrounding sites. The fact that these sites exist is remarkable, given current efforts by our fascist president and his minions to destroy this history. Go NOW before they disappear!
Ruby Bridges is just ONE week older than my younger sister and was in her grade. To even drive home more similarities, the iconic picture of her in a jumper was a similar jumper that my sister had at that age and wore. I recall them advertising that jumper at a local department store.
We must never erase history.We ARE history. It is obscene to erase the history of many to glorify the history of some. This is an American story and its devastating theme runs rampant still.
How do you erase Diversity,Equity and Inclusion? Only a simpleton could think that policy will erase non white peoples. These are human values. And we are human beings- all of us.
It is beyond horror and difficult to see, literally. A few years ago I went to the Museum of Jewish Heritage in NYC. Viewing the exhibits and hearing the stories, I didn't last long. Had to run outside. Didn't return.
For years, I have used NEVER AGAIN as my support mantra for Jews. It surely applies as well for black people.
Watching this country backslide beyond the jim crow years of my childhood enrages me.
