This is going to be a slaughter. Dems take over Congress. Then we focus on neutering unit senile Trump, quickly.

They want us to fear exercising our Constitutional rights, whether it is voting, first amendment rights, or anything else. Our fear is their path to a dictatorship.

There's a quote, commonly attributed to Nazi Minister of Propaganda Josef Goebbels, although I gather nobody can show that he ever said or wrote it.

If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and even you will come to believe it yourself.

I think the latter point is interesting. Someone like Don the Con has always had a fast and loose relationship with the truth, and it wouldn't surprise me to learn that he actually believes whatever he's saying at the given moment.

I voted early, in person, on Oct 17th. The activity at the polling place was brisk. This is hopeful.

"ballots become invalid when election workers write on them."

I don't know the details of the process in the USA. But from my own decades as an election worker in Canada, a ballot is invalid (and rejected) if a specific election worker has NOT initialled it; that's part of how the system knows it's a genuine ballot.

If a tabulator is being used to receive ballots, then it will automatically reject one that doesn't have someone's initials in the correct place.

If it's a traditional ballot box for manual counting, then after the voter has marked the ballot and brings it back to the official who issued it, that official is supposed to check the ballot for their own initials before they remove the counterfoil (a detachable perforated strip with a serial number) and the voter puts their now-anonymous and untraceable ballot into the box. And the ballot always has to be folded in a specific way so that the voter's mark is not visible but the initials are. I probably learned that about 40 years ago and it's engraved in my brain.

These and other procedures have been laboriously developed by trial and error over many decades and even centuries (literally!) in order to prevent fraud at the polls.

So if Trump's followers are dumb enough to believe his misinformation, and refuse to accept an initialled ballot, then that's one less vote for a Republican. Serves 'em right.
