MAGAt committed a political assassination which should be HEADLINES.

Make every Congressional Republican respond.

They’re actually trying to get away with calling him a “disgruntled Democrat.” Black is white, down is up, bullshit is the gospel, and that’s not really an elephant — it’s a mouse with a glandular condition.

Mine hasn't, so far. I'm not holding my breath. That would be Nick Langworthy, R NY-23.

Pressure him...no response to an inquiry is a tacit admission.

My attempts are quite frequent, I assure you. He does respond to some group letters, but not to my individual missives - at least not lately. Of course, that won't stop me, and I like that "no response..." and will add it to my next attempt at contacting him.

Daniel Solomon's avatar

And take it to the media if he doesn't.

The silence of Congress is deafening. In fact, it’s deafening to the point where we need to replace all of them with a few exceptions—Democrats and GOP. As a deaf Activist, even I can speak out against Fascism. Carry that statement in your heart while urging those hearing people in Congress to act For US.

To reduce Trump's influence, we start organizing now to make sure Democrats win the Governorships of New Jersey (Mikie Sherrill) and Virginia (Abigail Spanberger).

We have to pressure Congressional Republicans.

These three Republican congress members won their last elections overwhelmingly. It would be more effective to try to beat those Republican congress members who won by only a slight majority. We should hold anti-Trump demonstration in front of the local offices of vulnerable Republicans. SENATE

Honestly, could we convince all of your air traffic controllers to speak French (or make up a language entirely) and, as they're departing, give Chair Farce One a bad heading that results in them getting lost.

Just for long enough to result in their running out of fuel somewhere over the ocean, so he never makes it back to the US.

Maybe we could convince his entire cabinet, JD wotziz-his-current-name, and flavor-of-the-day House Speaker to accompany him. Get anybody republican who's in the line of succession on the flight.

Just vanish them all.

Terrible tragedy, disappearing like Malaysia Flight 370, never to be seen again.

Nice and tidy. Such a terrible tragedy, getting lost at sea.

Experts on the internet are remarking about how the troops were purposely out of step and didn't salute as they passed. Rumor is that they were encouraged not to behave as they would normally. 😃 😊 😀 😄 😁 😆 😃 😊 😀 😄 😀 Please be true!!!!!!

Cherae Stone's avatar

They were less than crisp, and it had to have been on purpose.

Hal's avatar

Marching in step without someone calling cadence is difficult for groups that large. In mass formations units use the drumbeat to keep in step with a band that is centrally located. However, most of the troops were not within earshot of any band.

As for saluting, only the lead element/commander (those with a flag) actually salute, and you will see the unit colors "dip" as the unit passes. The rest of the troops, except for the rank closest to the reviewing stand, will execute either "eyes right" or "eyes left" as they pass by. Heads will turn but no salutes will be rendered. I don't believe I ever heard orders like that given in the parade.

Steve 218's avatar

So that was noticed, eh? Marching in step is a part of basic training and surely is very hard to unlearn - unless it is done on purpose! The active military personnel aren't supposed to engage in political speech or get into partisan kerfuffle, so this action might well have been a silent protest.

Would love to be able to confirm that.

Trump may be a lousy dictator but Trump probably isn't running and never really has run the big show and others might do better with the same backing which probably has crossed their minds of late.

Bonnie Boyce's avatar

Agreed. This is the Shadow presidency of Stephen Miller

Steve 218's avatar

Now that Musk has left the scene (pity he didn't take DOGE and his dogies with him) we now have the likes of Russell Vought, Stephen Miller, and Steve Bannon. There are also a bunch of lackeys and toadies in Congress and the Cabinet to aid and abet the trouble.

Lynne Shook's avatar

He is lousy dictator, which gives me no comfort. It has occurred to me that he's so feckless, so hungry to be liked, that effective authoritarians have been able to use the US presidency to force their agendas-Putin, Netanyahu, Stephen Miller, Russell Vought, to name a few.

Got a laugh from his parade and choice of songs to play…..CCR Fortunate Son……are they clueless as to what the song is about. But what better person to play it for.

Susan C Shea's avatar

Did any enterprising reporter observe if birthday parade spectators carried signs if support? If so, were they commercially printed Trump signs? On our side, 5,000,000 people hand made an extraordinary variety of messages, everything from earnest quotations from the founding fathers to hilarious individual statements and images, all sincere

I guess someone told him the OPTICS was bad for these:

— Trump initially said people who protested the parade would be met with “very big force”, though the White House then attempted to clarify he was fine with peaceful protest.

Asked about the “No Kings” protests during a White House event on Thursday, Trump said: “I don’t feel like a king. I have to go through hell to get things approved.” 🙄 Poor boy!

** Glad to see the Trump Baby Blimp balloon resurrected!

Arthur Beckman's avatar

The protests were great! But they should only be the beginning.

Please – do one ACTIVE thing every day to fight the autocratic, hateful, deranged, monstrousness of the Trump regime and his Republican stooges:

- Write  to advertisers asking them not to support right-wing media (you will be surprised how responsive they often are)

- Make a donation to a Democratic candidate, DCCC, DNC, Emily's List, Progressive Turnout Project, Public Citizen, Common Cause, MoveOn, Indivisible, etc.

- Make a donation to an organization fighting the insanity, like Union of Concerned Scientists, ACLU, NAACP, People for the American Way, ProPublica, Democracy Forward, State Democracy Defenders Fund, American Oversight

-  Subscribe to a factual, serious publication like NYT, The Guardian, New Yorker, New Republic, The Nation, The Atlantic, The Contrarian

- Don't let "both-sidesism" go unanswered in media

- Be relentless in exposing the voting records, supporters, and tactics of MAGA politicians

- Write a letter or postcard to a member of Congress

- Attend protests like the one of June 14 – and others

Please add your ideas. And if you are a MAGA-zombie-troll, please just go away until we figure out how to bring you back into civilization.
