Just imagine - having the whole US DOJ working as your fixers? Every US Attorney they can rope in, 1000 FBI agents, Department heads and the Attorney General... All to protect Dear Leader from this self-inflicted embarrassment - at the Peoples' expense and utter cessation of the Peoples' business. The etherial joy of having a Mob Boss President.

LHS's avatar

I wonder how giving a convicted child sex trafficker any kind of "deal" will go over with the MAGA crowd. This could backfire on Trump.

Charles's avatar

I believe Trump thinks his supporters are so stupid, or so fascinated by shiny things, that they will fall for any Trump lie. I would love to see them prove him wrong.

Gunnar Jensen's avatar

Many may be coming to from their decade long stupor ... So much of late: the cruelty, the corruption, the naked stupidity, the childish inanities may be getting a bit tiresome, and just too much, even for hypnotized magaistas ... We can hope, and when and where possible, nudge, or push it along.

Tim Matchette's avatar

This is why Murdoch got the ball rolling. He sees what the felon is and understands his insanity.

Hummingbird3's avatar

Murdoch helped create Trump and the cult of MAGA via his “news” empire. He has always known what Trump is but used him to further his interests. If Murdoch is doing anything to diminish Trump it’s only because he’s outlived his usefulness to Murdoch. Not because Murdoch suddenly grew a conscience.

Tim Matchette's avatar

You are correct Marcia. He has and the evidence is pilling up. Taking a look at the mysterious trip to Montana by Vance to see Murdoch and his son reeks of a meeting where the Murdoch's realize that the felon is bonkers. This attack on the Fed, tariffs and his bombing of Iran certainly give them pause on continued support and now the Epstein affair, well they want him out.

Gunnar Jensen's avatar

And quite likely prefers, and is paving the way for hillbilly vanilli to assume the "reign" ...

patricia's avatar

I think they are like Carrie Nation with the bone of epstein

Steve 218's avatar

This is assuming that they're paying attention and don't turn Trump into their martyr. So far, they have accepted everything else that would have sunk anyone else, and their support hasn't wavered significantly. We can only hope that Teflon Don's coating is getting very thin.

Ricardo Grinbank's avatar

LHS, in a normal country, it should backfire but we are in the US in 2025.

Tim Matchette's avatar

It sure as hell will. As for the felon, some mistakes he will never stop paying for.

debra's avatar

We can only hope.

Mike Bechler's avatar

"Once the MAGA GOP is seen as the party that protects rich, creepy, abusive, elite men at the expense of everyone else, they will be recognized for the villains they once claimed Democrats to be."

It's actually worse than this. Trump's base voted for him in large part to poke a stick in the eye of privileged elites like Epstein and his associates. They want to see these miscreants get the same kind of punishment they themselves would get if they had been caught having sex with underage girls, and they are demanding that Trump mete it out to them. The trouble is that Trump and many of his friends and associates were in on it too. To satisfy his base, he has to turn on his elite supporters. Talk about a rock and a hard place!

His coalition was already getting shaky; hopefully this will shatter it.

debra's avatar

There's always the element in Trump's base of "Owning the libtards." That, and the personal, psychological childhood axe they all have to grind (which makes them just like Trump) will encourage them to come up with rationalization # 10,000.

Steve 218's avatar

There may come a time (especially after the tariffs hit them in the personal pocketbook) when even the faithful find that "owning the libtards" gets too expensive for them. This is why we need to start pointing out loud and frequently how each individual will suffer from their effects.

Bren M's avatar

Imagine having committed so many crimes that you need all of these to cover them up?

debra's avatar

A day in Trump's life.

Gunnar Jensen's avatar

Many career DOJ'rs may indeed allow themselves to be extorted into attempting some fixes for the King of Corruption, but just as many will be ringside witnesses quite eager and willing to flip. (TAFU)

Stephen Brady's avatar

From your lips to god's ears.

Hiro's avatar

Jen hits the key stake for Republicans. "Once the MAGA GOP is seen as the party that protects rich, creepy, abusive, elite men at the expense of everyone else, they will be recognized for the villains they once claimed Democrats to be. After all, a deep state cover-up of sexual predators who victimized children should be the final straw for all but the most deluded Trump cultists." Republicans have no choice but to dump Trump who has been calling immigrants as rapists. But now he is revealed as a friend of child rapists.

Hal's avatar

The Biden administration had a golden opportunity to expose Trump at any time yet failed to do so. Are you not the least bit curious as to why?

David Moscatello's avatar

Reason one: President Biden was still behaving as if this was still the nation he grew up in, and he was far too determined to remain hands-off with regard to the work of the DOJ.

Reason two: Merrick Garland, the first vaporware AG.

Hal's avatar

"Reason one: President Biden was still behaving as if this was still the nation he grew up in..."

Or maybe there was nothing all that incriminating in the Epstein files with regards to Trump in the first place.

Hiro's avatar

I suspect a few top Demos appear in the file that Biden needs to protect. Man is sinful and with power and money can fall easily into serious crimes. It is easy to blame them, but before that I am thankful that I am not wealthy nor powerful.

Ann Rock's avatar

You know what, wrong is wrong. If democrats are implicated so be it. Trafficking young women is wrong period.

Ricardo Grinbank's avatar

A real nightmare Stephen 😫

Hal's avatar

"Just imagine - having the whole US DOJ working as your fixers?"

Yeah, just imagine...I guess we'll find out how the Obama administration "fixed" the story about the Trump/Russia narrative.

Hal's avatar

You might want to take a look at the news conference Tulsi Gabbard just had with regards to documents recently released on "Russia Interference".

David Moscatello's avatar

You're seriously promoting Putin's puppet Gabbard's nonsense here? What do you think this is, yahoo or Fox?

Hal's avatar

"You're seriously promoting Putin's puppet..."

Okay, lay out your case with very specific examples of how Tulsi Gabbard is "Putin's puppet". Give it your best shot.

"What do you think this is, yahoo or Fox?"

I think this is a liberal echo chamber with just a few members who are willing to question the "group-think".

David Moscatello's avatar

No, you're the one shilling the rightwing lie, lay out your case, or Gabbard's, for how the OLD documents she's trotting out change anything or support "treason" charges against Obama or Biden. Just as Pam Bondi didn't know the meaning or habeus corpus, DNI Gabbard doesn't know the legal definition of treason.

There are YEARS of quotes by Gabbard defending Russia and Putin. She's practically a Putin parrot. Do your own research. Search "Tulsi Gabbard quotes on Putin."

It's all just a desperate, transparent attempt to distract from the Epstein files. And you fell for it.

While you're at it, you can make up an "explanation" for why the FIRST Trump administration didn't reveal this or charge Obama then.

Ricardo Grinbank's avatar

Everything coming out of this regime stinks. And getting worse by the hour.

Charles's avatar

I agree. The quote used to be, "There’s something rotten in the State of Denmark!" The quote now reads, "There’s something rotten in the United States of America! Like a fish, it rots from the head! The Republican President and both Republican Houses of Congress."

Mike Bechler's avatar

Another expression comes to mind: "I smell a rat."

debra's avatar

YAY! I hope more shit surfaces.

Jim Carmichael's avatar

Absolutely correct about the backfire, Jen! I now see where Trump got his gilded redecorating ideas for the oval office. That alone speaks volumes.

CE's avatar

Yes, the fireplace!

Louise's avatar

At first glance, I thought the photo was of Trump's White House golden redecorating. And I just read about the plan to rename the Kennedy Center after Melania Trump. Can this be for real?

Louise's avatar

In the interest of precision, my husband corrected me to note that HE read that Trump wants to rename The Opera House at the Center, and not the entire Kennedy Center. I don't know which is correct but I'm not sure that it matters much at this point.

patricia's avatar

well, trump and co certainly have all the makings of a tragic opera !!

Kathy Smith's avatar

There were photos of the rose garden being destroyed and it’s going to be repurposed.

Not sure if this is the reason, but I wouldn’t put it past ‘em’.

Apparently, there’s going to be a wrestling match at the White House.

Maybe enabler, Jim Jordan, a former wrestling coach at Ohio State, can take the stage and show us his stuff.

The other investigations and bs he wastes taxpayer money doing, amount to nothing. Over and over.

Own up to your complicity as reported in this documentary, Jim.

You knew what the hell was going on.

As a Christian, surely you wrestle with your hypocrisy, lies, perverse “turn a blind eye” ‘handling’ of the very abuse you spew others are involved in.

But not you.

Uh huh.

patricia's avatar

they would have to hold it on a day jordan isn't at a deposition explaining why he allowed his wrestlers to be molested...

QSAT's avatar

EVERYONE should watch the documentary about the wrestling scandal at OSU. Especially Ohioans. No one should vote for Jim Jordan ever again. His having a role in “oversight” is appalling and absurd. Why isn’t Congress forcing him to give up his leadership role?

Anne-Louise Luccarini's avatar

Would he wear a suit coat for the occasion?

Louise's avatar

Horrifying thought: maybe the Rose Garden is being removed to make way for Trump's rumored "Garden of Heroes"?

patricia's avatar

I think it's to be located at the entrance to hell

Anne-Louise Luccarini's avatar

WHAT??? Well, why not? He's destroyed the Kennedy Centre. In the foyer they could hang an enlarged copy of an underdressed Melania looking drugged or drunk in that double party picture , head thrown back, strands of hair on face, both women clasped round the waist by their respective, er, squires.

Ellie still in the mix in 26's avatar

I found that shocking! I thought for certain, the short-fingered vulgarian would get Congress to name it after himself - in Big Gold Letters.

Tim Matchette's avatar

Louise, ass kissers know no boundaries.

Marla Abe's avatar

patricia's avatar

not that I blame her for using her looks and skills to get her fam over here

That painting is disturbing. If Trump were Dorian Gray although I think he’s more disgusting than that.

patricia's avatar

there is evil at play here.....perhaps a painting of trump's soul...

That is what I came on here to point out. Ewwwww.

Charlie in VA's avatar

Does anyone consider a convicted, jailed felon a credible witness? Asking for a friend.

Mike Eckel's avatar

Did Trump help decorate Jeffrey Epstein's Upper East Side Home? The room shown in Government Exhibit 911-R happens to look very similar to the "remodeled" oval office. Not only the gold on the mantle and fireplace surround, however, on the tables, on the door frame, and on the ceiling. Just asking questions...

Barry Lockard's avatar

“It seems preposterous that anyone would believe Maxwell’s possible exoneration of Trump…”

There is a whole lot that is preposterous in this country today. There truly is a sucker born every minute and ready to swallow this nonsense hook, line, and sinker.

There is also no shortage of cowardice and unscrupulousness in the halls of Congress, so it should be no surprise that it’s GOP members are scurrying for the exits like rats leaving a sinking ship.

We can only hope that the Epstein scandal will be “the final straw for all but the most deluded Trump cultists” and that the delusional are small in number.

Nancy Karam's avatar

And that is the saddest part of all. I cannot believe there are that many uneducated, delusional, ass-kissers in this country who, after all his lies have been revealed through facts, haven't turned on him yet. It's a shame they don't all know that it really wouldn't be a mortal sin to walk away from the party of shame and join the party of reality or even go Independent and keep them all guessing till election day!

Marie Carota's avatar

I am hoping this Epstein debacle gives them the room to walk away. We will accept their realization of the truth and welcome the saved.

It's Come To This's avatar

Speaker Bobblehead reminds me of some small, melba toast satrap in any tin-horn dictatorship, or perhaps one of those voluminous, nondescript Popes in hoc to the Medici family during the Middle Ages, filled with pious blather, yet ruthless and determined in his ass-kissing responsibilities to those in power to whom he owes his life.

Marie Carota's avatar

A super suck up! He has no values or principles.

Barry Lockard's avatar

Agreed, and I like your historical comparison. We’ve seen this act before.

Susan Iwanisziw's avatar

The Extreme Court wanted this extreme corruption to undermine American decency and justice. If Trump pardons Maxwell, I hope every citizen demands the files under the FOIA and posts them hourly across the array of social media to ensure she never escapes moral outrage and social ostracism and Trump gets burned for his predilections beyond any possible redemption.

Steven Branch's avatar

Extreme Court is spot-on, Susan!! Replace SCOTUS with ECOTUS. That moniker should be used nationwide especially when referring to the deplorable 6 who willfully continue to aid and abet the felon who is hellbent on destroying all that is good, lawful and decent about America. A plague on all their houses.

Betty Wachtel's avatar

By saying that the appalling AI video "showed" Obama's arrest, you are implying that there was such an arrest. "Purporting to show" would have been a far better way to put it.

Marie Carota's avatar

That whole AI fake about Obama is deplorable. What a horrible person this so called president. Meanwhile Putin gets 50 more days to bomb Ukraine….. Netanyahu gets to kill more Gazans and stay out of jail, people are starving ,getting sick, preaching war, losing their businesses, getting rich grifting on the tariff wars and meme coins and all this idiot can think of is saving his butt. if this Epstein stuff can come out we can get rid of Trump and all of his minions. He is the emergency…..

Klarity's avatar

I thought the same thing. Should have been clear it was a false creation.

Neal Rattican's avatar

Jen just keeps getting better and better. Even so, we commenters on this site know full well that we’re singing mostly to the choir. But it still feels good to get it off our chests, does it not?

Nadine Bangerter's avatar

It is still shocking that this is what may cause Trump's downfall. Not kicking millions of healthcare, taking from the poor to give to the rich tax breaks, the end of NPR and PBS, rounding up non-criminal immigrants like a police state, creating an ineffective government, or gutting science and research.

Alan Greenstein's avatar

Remember that tax evasion brought down Al Capone.

patricia's avatar

the right wing is obsessed with sex ...just like the salem witch trials

patricia's avatar

they used to disrobe the women accused of being a witch, looking for witch marks on their skin...

William Gottlieb's avatar

Of course we’d take anything that brings Trump down. But you’re right— what an indictment of our country that it takes this to get us moving.

Louise's avatar

Please be a little bit judicious before indicting "our country". Surely you haven't missed the thousands of marches, protests, angry townhall meetings, all consisting of millions of citizens? Perhaps the dedicated MAGA crowd began to get moving in the face of the Epstein files - many others have been moving for months.

patricia's avatar

yeah, but there is ABSOLUTELY something wrong with our country for so many of "us" to be so afflicted

Louise's avatar

You're correct of course. I really don't understand the MAGA folks at all. Never have, never will. But I will say this: I don't depend on them attaining enlightenment soon, or ever.

William Gottlieb's avatar

You’re right, and yet… what touches the heart of America?

What draws out the righteous majority? When do scales tip decisively? Is some kind of personal moral failing a crucial element?

Louise's avatar

Three very critical questions. Sadly, I can't seem to find any answers. But I haven't given up looking.

Marie Carota's avatar

Yes with Americans it’s the sensationalism. But whatever it takes to bring the criminal down I will take it! Meanwhile the rest of the world is burning.

Edith's avatar

Of COURSE they'll go along w/a cover-up - stupid question. All these Rs who are suddenly showing some backbone will totally cave, just as they did w/that godawful bill. After they vote to do whatever the great cheeto demands, then they'll say they didn't really understand it, or they didn't have time to read it, or let's now repeal some of it...

BosPhotoGuy's avatar

"... Will Republicans go along with a massive coverup, the sort of corrupt self-protection racket that authoritarian leaders pull to defend indefensible conduct? "

I don't have a lot of answers about many things, but I do know the answer to this question is, YES (sadly, digustingly, yes)

Be watchfull of nomenclature as this sorry mess evolves. For example, if the relationship between Epstein and his friends was not a "client" relationship, it seems unlikely that a "client" list will be uncovered. Maybe any list of names.or names and addresses, or names and phone numbers would provide the insight that is sought.

Steve 218's avatar

There may be no list per se, though all the names of the involved are scattered throughout the files. A list could easily be compiled from the participants named.

Kathy R. Wuthrich's avatar

I'm afraid his MAGA base will never leave him.

Dean Gavney's avatar

Until two weeks ago, I thought the same thing but this thing is not going away. I'm not sure the burning of MAGA hats, which happened in a few western states this past weekend, is going to become commonplace, but he has lost a portion of the base and a slew of MAGA influencers. It’s estimated through polling that he’s lost 2% of hardcore supporters, if true that’s enormous. If it gets to 5% MAGA will be a toxic brand, but buckle up. The chaos agent will fight back in ways both comical and horrific.

patricia's avatar

hope they will run their own independent candidates in the midterms, split the repube ticket and oh boy the dems have the house and senate.

off subject personal question...did you find after your heart transplant, you liked some things or were interested in things you were not before the transplant ?

Dean Gavney's avatar

No, not for the most part. I did lose my taste for spicy food, though. That’s really the only change.

patricia's avatar

continued success to you with your new life !

Mike Bechler's avatar

I'm not so sure about that. His base voted for him in large part because they don't like the kinds of elites that Epstein hung with. They demand that Trump mete out the justice that they deserve for repeated, blatant acts of statutory rape. They know it's time for Trump to put up or shut up.

Trouble is, Trump and his cronies were in on it too. To satisfy his base, he has to implicate his associates and himself. It's a rock and a hard place scenario, and hopefully it will shatter his coalition.

Once the members of Congress start to bolt, it will be a stampede for the exits.

Marie Carota's avatar

Maybe it is the hardcore QAnon portion. They are the ones who believe in the sex trafficking cabal. Now we find out it was true in Trump/Epstein!
