Hey, the Felon is worried about spitting in the face of police officers. Hitting officers with flag poles, fire extinguishers, tasing officers, shouting "kill them" are all ok; but spitting no bueno.

We need to stop talking and start working hard to get him out of office or, at the very least, hamstring him.

KnockKnockGreenpeace's avatar

I suggest keelhaul, not hamstring.

Marc Panaye's avatar

Because of those damned imaginary bone spurs that would prevent hamstring?

Trust me. We can do both. I am.

Also caught you last night when your anger came through load and clear. I could still feel your anger/frustration in your written words. Great points made .

Wow! You have a lot of information to share, and this lover of democracy is grateful.

Excellent as always. The question is: How the F***can this illegal unconstitutional regime be STOPPED and DEPOSED! Over 400 days to the midterms. Millions must get out on the streets protesting peacefully, holding teach ins and rallies for democracy and demos against the Heritage Foundation Fascist Coup. Time to name names lurking in the shadows behind the COMINCHEAT!

This action and the individual perpetrating it on our Nation's Capital are both abominations.

What we have is overreach, overreaction, and creation of an emergency situation that exists only in Trump's diseased mind. Local law enforcement was doing well at reducing crime; Trump is exhibiting his usual delusional dictatorial behavior. Enough is enough.

Great article Glenn. The truth of what’s really going on in DC. It’s a power grab to make Trump strong, but has the opposite effect. He’s such a mean bully, and a very little man.

Heard a guest with Ian Masters today say that mostly these troops work on trucks, get bored and get into trouble with defection, dui and dumb antics (paraphrasing).

Dear Mr. Kirschner, I think it is OK to drop the "quasi" in your first sentence that started: "President Donald Trump’s latest quasi-dictatorial move".

I think it is also OK to drop the "President" for the convicted felon is only playing "president".

So here's my redacted first sentence.

"Trump's latest dictatorial move...."

Glad to help!

My congresscon, Nick Langworthy NY-23, told me yesterday that Short Fingers was "obligated by the Constitution" to take this action. I expected no other response from someone attached to the short-fingered vulgarian's backside, like a remora. I told him he was a liar, and obviously wanted a Police State. (this is in email, not in person, more's the pity)

Congress, being controlled by Republicans, will do NOTHING, because this advances their aim to destroy the Constitutional Republic and representative democracy.

Imagine this: Trump tries to run again despite the Constitution. He loses and like January 6 claims he was cheated, incites a mob again. Then what? He has seized and politicized the Capital Police, the FBI, the National Guard, the Army. Who will stop the mob?

And then suppose the resistance brings a million people to DC in protest of Trump's actions. Will they be safe? Armored war vehicles are already on the mall.

I have no evidence this is the motivation for taking over DC but it doesn't seem like a wild guess.

Thank you! This is one of the most insightful analyses I've seen to date!

The conduct of Trump, Bondi and Hegseth in American cities definitely is offensive, dangerous and dictatorial. America has been here before (250 years ago), so it is worth remembering the historical analogies and Americans' responses.

"Why do I say Trump’s takeover of MPD is offensive? For starters, a convicted felon just seized control of D.C.’s primary law enforcement agency."

Yes, the "convicted felon" argument. And let's not forget Trump was impeached - twice. Still, after all the crap he had to endure at the hands of an allegedly "blind justice" system, the entire Democratic Party and the nation's security/justice apparatus, Trump still managed to get more votes than Kamala Harris. That just has to burn you guys to the core.

"It’s fully dictatorial."

Fine, then get Norm Eisen to file another lawsuit. Better still, consult with Norm and start writing up charges of impeachment should the Dems get the House in the midterms. But first, go talk to the D.C. police and those affected most by crime. Dare to walk the streets where the tourists, politicians and other oh-so-caring liberals won't go. Every city has those places and you should know that, being a former prosecutor. So just stop with the sanctimonious BS about how offensive, disrespectful, dangerous and dictatorial Trump's decision is.
