What has happened in this short a time is beyond incredible. I will emphatically say that anyone voting for any Republican in the next two elections is not a loyal, trustworthy American. The right wing idiotsphere has to be overturned.
Are there words to describe this "policy?" American First will become America Alone; no country with sane leadership will deal with us.
It's telling that he's all but announcing our withdrawal from MATO just as Putin declares he's ready for war in Europe. This "policy" document might finally wake up Europe's leaders to the fact that the US is not to be trusted or relied on. They almost to a leader fawned over "him" and this is what it's gotten them.
A marvelous summation!! Indeed, it is dificult to keep ahead of all of the malfeasances and criminality that swamps us on a daily basis. Rather than drain the swamp, Trump and his administration have grown the swamp. These are the reminders that we need. What is most unfortunate is that the people who need this surely don't read The Contrarian.
A note on James Comey: He was prosecuted for the wrong reaason. Releasing information of an ongoing FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails was election tampering, and even though it come to nothing of signifcance, the release did the damage, and there are no take-backs. The damage was done.
The holier-than-thou Mr. Comey was unprofessional at the very least, but was found not to have engaged in election interference in 2016. Yes, those emails hurt Hilary. We'll never know whether that actually cost her the election.
The determination wasn't based upon common sense. Of course the email disclosures created doubt and distrust in a candidate running for office, and once determined of no value, did it again bringing her email association with Anthouny Weiner's case to light. This was within weeks of the election. If that isn't interference, it's hard to know what is.
She was, however, not in compliance with DoS regs on the use of a personal email account for official business. Her sense of entitlement and entitled conduct ended her presidential hopes, and we're all paying the price. And I know, we all do, that the current president and his whole cabinet are worse beyond comparison.
We also need to start blaming congress for the mess we are in. They went to great length to find fault with Hunter Biden when his father was president, what about Don jr and Eric Trump wheeling and dealing in the mid-east and China? And Ivanka and Jared Kushner’s deals in the mid-east? Unregulated cryptocurrency? Congress deserves a lot of blame!!!!!
Excellent recap. Bring on the Top 10 Lists! Stunning to see these things presented in this compact form. It hasn’t even been a full year and we’re all exhausted.
These mortgage fraud prosecutions seem to me to be a huge waste of court time and money. I am sure that there are plentiful possibilities for prosecutions for mortgage fraud among high level Republicans also. Why don't we hear about them being prosecuted? There should be a long list of them somewhere!
The comments I’m making here need to be taken and thought about by someone with a better understanding of a way to organize written thoughts.
Supposedly Trump is doing everything he can to distract from the release of the Epstein files. We’ve all seen the lawsuits against the people on his “hit list”. The other distractions intended to keep him in the headlines of the bought corporate media.
But what if HE, in his totality, is the distraction away from the real leaders behind him? In a government paper posted night before last, a page straight from Project 2025, was a screed which recommended the American government move away from interaction with Europe and their countries, to establish American hegemony over the Western Hemisphere. This is Imperialism, again, which followed to the end, will lead to war.
For background refer to last nights posting by Heather Cox Richardson!
I love the list. It is very hard keeping up with all the litigations and suits. A couple I did not know about, so very enlightening to say the least. I had to chuckle on a couple descriptions including the "subway sandwich" fiasco! Thank you for keeping us informed.
Thanks for the top 10 Norm! It’s nice to have a reminder what nonsense has been happening since January 20, 2025. So many excellent interviews and columns this week I can hardly keep up!
Except, Michelle, what has happened since January 20, 2025 has been that America has lost its democracy and has become an Autocratic Fascist state. Watch Americans being brutalized and picked up off of American city streets, just like 1938 Nazi Germany.
Now just sit back and watch what Project 2025 told us would happen, now take place.
Look at your children and tell them what we are bequeathing them.
WE need to fight back now. They must be taken out of office now.
Robert Reich posted this candidate for ACLU action:
"NSPM-7, or Trump’s National Security Presidential Memo #7, categorizes a sweeping range of commonly held political beliefs as signs of “domestic terrorism” and directs the federal law enforcement to investigate and disrupt organizations and individuals who espouse such views.
What are these ideas that are so dangerous that they can be directly linked to terrorism? The list includes such vague concepts as “anti-capitalism,” “anti-Christianity,” “extremism on migration, race, and gender,” and opposition to “traditional American views on family, religion, and morality.”
That could mean practically anything. And that’s the point."
This directly attacks the First Amendment. Political speech is explicitly protected no matter what the President calls it. Investigate and disrupt organizations with politically inconvenient views is exactly what we saw in the 1960s with J. Edgar Hoover's FBI. It's back!
Next give us the worst pardons - Asher needs to be there with his $32m relief of restitution. Maybe a piece on: 1) how many are in detention 2) the cost of detention 3) what WH appointees are doing nothing - eg: Sean Cooksey 5) how much spent at Trump hotels by ICE 6) financing of detention centers and large investors 7) destruction of FEC and abuses to come from no campaign fund oversight 8) the 140 insurrectionists in Congress 9) stupid decisions by SCOTUS 10) failures of Kushner 11) Kushner compensation 12) cost of Mars so far
On each of these ten charges I want to see someone fighting back. I would like to see countersuits on each of the 10 items. Each fine, if convicted, should be in the 10's of millions and very high bails should be set.
I would like to see Hegseth and Trump personally indicted for murder. No bail should be offered. Issue them each an orange suit. The trial should be public. America needs to know the sequence of events that culminated with these two peoples murder. Step by step, this all needs to be laid out for American voters to see.
Maybe if the courts prosecution lays it out well, America will realize just what they have done to their country.
But, then again, we might just pass down this total mess to our children who will ask for decades hence, WHY?
I have found myself at new level of strain thinking about the various corupt actions that have taken placed, even those most recently, as I was finding it hard to stay informed about the current status of each. This is an excellent solution for tracking this regime's assualts and lies.
Keep up the great work keeping Trump’s unconstitutional, illegal, anti-American actions front and center. NEVER FORGET, AMERICANS. IMPEACH TRUMP IN 2026!
There is a pending case about citizenship of babies born here. Let's follow the reasoning. If the babies aren't granted citizenship that means that the parents are not subject to the laws and aren't subject to arrest and deportation. Only in quantum mechanics can something be both true and false simultaneously. Let's see if SCOTUS is up on contemporary quantum theory.

Read the HCR column about NSS 2025, it will chill you to the bone.

They ‘fawned’ out of necessity, unfortunately.
The American presidency is the world’s biggest bully pulpit.
— that the UK stopped sharing intelligence with the U.S. in the Caribbean is telling.
And the fact that the regime released it late and quietly says they don't want us to notice nor be concerned. Yeah, right.
It was very difficult for me to read this selling out of the U.S. to Russia.

We continue to "fiddle while Rome burns".
Can we get a lien on Trump’s billions to get reimbursed for the millions he’s wasting chasing after his “enemies”

CORRUPTION rules
Another winner! Gad, there are SO many to choose from! 🤔

I think it is now time to start fighting back. Don't you!?

Unfortunately, SCOTUS has been corrupted and is not up for much of anything now a days, except, of course, lavish free handouts>
What, if any, recourse do we have if SCOTUS issues two mutually contradictory rulings?
