We live in DC, a short dog-walk to WH. Today, tents, in Wash. Circle area, by George Wash U Hospital, were demolished today, after notices went up on every tent stated Aug. 18. No time for tent-dwellers to pack up + move. Yesterday, ICE arrested a coffee drinker, in Foggy Bottom Whole Foods, ICE stalking customers in Trader Joes, a food truck vendor on M Street, near Georgetown, was taken away in handcuffs. Horrible what's happening here. trump's tactic is to make people afraid, throw us off balance. Unlike Mayor Bass of LA, our mayor is not fighting for the people of DC. We can't let trump do this.
Every now an then, I just pinch myself that I have the privilege of listening to a conversation between such amazing heroes of mine, who stand up with courage for the values that I think we all hold dear, that include democracy, compassion for others, and equal treatment under the Law. Listening to this podcast, hearing such a warm, substantive, illuminating conversation about the critical legal issues being broached by this Trump administration is not only fascinating, it makes me so grateful and proud to be a part of this Contrarian initiative! We get to hear the most talented minds in their fields, which reminds me that they are still there, with the courage to speak out and explain things, and that is incredibly calming to me. The rule of law, justice, only exists because of the lawyers, judges, and citizens who truly believe in it, and have a deep revere for all that it represents. As long as such stars exist, we will continue to be lit by their thoughts, and have hope for a brighter tomorrow.
Do we become a hard target by uniting and standing together? I need clear instructions for the resistance assignment, please! I am a non-violent resistor like those in the Montgomery Bus boycott in 1955. It was a unified effort by ordinary people which was successful.
Speakiing as a 100% white-skinned person, I ache and scream and protest in the streets for the insane and cruel racist assaults on everyone with skin of other colors. I'm using my anger emotion to speak out constantly. We are all in the human family. Leaning in and speaking out!
