In the state of Kentucky our AG is a republican and our democratic Governor Andy Beshear has had to add our state to these attempts to overstep the rule of law and the constitution by the Trump administration. Our governor was our AG before being our governor,he’s been a great governor. He truly believes that government was meant to serve all the people all the time & a wonderful steward he’s been.

This is also the situation in Pennsylvania- Republican AG doing nothing and a Dem governor, Josh Shapiro, former AG, stepping in to add our state to these lawsuits.

We're in the same boat in Pennsylvania. Governor Josh Shapiro was our AG, and now he's doing the work of representing us in legal matters as our Republican AG sits back and refuses to do his job.

Wow this is good to know. These Dem governors are doing all the work. Thanks go to them for not giving up.

We’re screwed in South Carolina. And it’s sucks even more because I moved from Illinois five and a half years ago.

I really hate to hear that. We’re getting ready to fully retire and are looking at Illinois to move to because it’s so senior tax friendly & has 21+ legal cannabis. Hope that we have the winds of change coming soon for you and all the nation. Peace🦋✌🏼

Republicans AGs are terrified of offending Trump, so they will never sue to protect the rights of the citizens of their states. Of course, Republican AGs are complicit in removing citizens rights, such as making it more difficult to vote.

Thank you to The State Attorneys General who have the guts to proceed in these ways!!! The Supreme Court has become just another MAGA arm for Trump which is heartbreaking.

The last bastion of hope.Deserving of not just our praise but full support: our votes, contributions and voices.

Amen. I hope each AG has fed the Mandate for Leadership Project 2025 document into their favorite AI chatbot to see what cases they should be getting ready for. And keeps updating that.

So, so grateful for their efforts. We are fortunate to have brilliant and passionate Keith Ellison as Minnesota's State Attorney General. https://www.ag.state.mn.us/office/agbio.asp

I was fortunate to be there in March in Saint Paul when the AG’s were presenting the many lawsuits that they’ve been working on at that time and preparing for in the future. It was an overflow crowd. Many times we all stood up clapping and cheering for what they’re doing to protect and guide this country back on the path of democracy. Thank you, AG’s.

I hope Ms. Rubin will address the issue of Texas' gerrymandering 5 more RepubliCon seats in the House.

Question: Shouldn't the Dems do the same in say, California and New York? Isn't it time to fight fire with fire before the mid-terms arrive next year?

Susan Stone's avatar

As a Texan, I hope she does address that issue. I believe my city will be destroyed by that map, not only for not having the representation we deserve, but also for losing badly needed resources. El Paso has always been in large part a low income city, and we need good representation like what we currently have.

California uses an independent redistricting commission that was enacted via a ballot proposition. It will take a special election to change the commission rules as I understand it.

Bummer.

Our state did the same thing.

The right thing, trying NOT to be manipulative and partisan.

Now I wish we hadn't, since MAGA plays by no rule other than accumulating fascist power.

I am proud to live in Illinois where our AG is on the front line of the fight!

That's a big 'me too', and J.B. Pritzker, the governor, stands up for local law enforcement not to have to do federal policing. He said that they have enough to do already.

Susan Walker's avatar

Me three. I am deeply grateful for AG Kwame Raoul and Gov. J.B. Pritzker .

“Despite an often hostile and blatantly partisan Supreme Court that acts as Trump’s shield, the AGs remain undaunted. For this courage and fortitude, we honor them today.”

Amen! 💖🙏🏽💕

Josh Shapiro, governor of PA, was AG of Pa too. He is doing a great job defending our Democracy in PA.

Let’s stop w the Dems aren’t doing enough! This is great work!

I agree completely! Americans have only two choices now. Do nothing and let MAGA become our government, or fight MAGA’s tyranny every way you can to save our Democracy.

Very thankful for their work!!

"“The lawsuits that we are filing really are not about partisanship. They are about the rule of law.” " (Minnesota AG Keith Ellison)

That is exactly the point, and he made it well. Thank you Ms. Rubin for documenting, summarizing, and presenting all of the actions that these people are taking against the illegal policies that are threatening our freedoms and democracy. They are our current heroes.

FYI, the senator from RI is Sheldon Whitehouse not Richard.

Both Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse do an amazing job for Rhode Island as do our Congeesspeople. I also admire how well Connecticut is being represented.

Thank you for publicizing the work that the AGs are doing. I was not aware of how widespread their lawsuits are. It's given me a little ray of hope that all is not lost. Unfortunately, my state, Pennsylvania, has a Republican AG and a very good Democratic governor who used to be our AG. I
