Well done. As someone researching and writing about the role of American civil society right now, I would add more about what Marcos Perez Jimenez called "markets, associations and a sphere of public debate." The NAACP is part of that, but there is so much more not being documented. The big ten football schools, for example, have formed a strong network that helps protect them from the attacks being endured by single universities.

Yes. This. We need to elect to Congress people who are willing to do radical things, make BIG changes. Incrementalism will not suffice. We are in the business of saving our nation! The opposition is not at all trustworthy and cannot be expected to do the right thing. We can count on them to do the exact wrong thing. Therefore we must be strong, determined and go right up to the door sill of "too far." Do. Not. Go. Gentle!
