Looks like the feds are grabbing it so that the Trumpists in the DoJ can do everything they can to botch the case so the guy walks.....

Lori Beninger's avatar

Even if they don't botch it, I wouldn't be surprised if Trump pardoned Boelter, because it's Federal and he could.

And Trump can pardon a federal conviction but not a state conviction.

Or Trump issues a pardon

Feds are bad-faith partners in justice under Trump/Bondi/Patel. Anyone else expect the Feds to push their narrative it was the Left's fault and then to push for a mistrial and pardon when Boelter is found guilty of murdering Democrats to help Trump?

This country is so broken.

SO TRUMPO CAN PARDON HIM, and maybe give him a medal of freedom. Or new medal, "Hero of the Trump Reich"

Easier for the Feds to control the narrative if they're running the case.

I simply don't trust the feds taking this case from the state. I would much rather trust the state of Minnesota to take thus case to the grand jury and then to trial.

The feds want to claim the case so trump can pardon Boelter and give medal for murdering Democrats.

Trump can't pardon state offenses, he can federal. There's absolutely no way I trust our current injustice department to prosecute a crime of this magnitude. They aren't up to the real practice of law and order, only pretend.

Thank you for this.

Just one thing: "At the Hoffman home, the press release says, he knocked on the door claiming to be a police officer and shot the senator and her husband multiple times..."

That should be "the senator and his wife..."

political violence IS up, all perped by right wing "people"

Trump probably planning on another pardon if he's convicted. After all, he only killed Democrats.

Don't forget that federal convictions are subject to presidential pardon. I would seriously be concerned that a federal conviction would be pardoned by Trump. We WANT a state conviction so he can't walk.

John Boland's avatar

I don't think a pardon is the goal. Instead, I think the feds want to impose the death penalty. Boelter is a throw-away character. Convict and execute him and Trump will claim it as proof of his even-handedness as to violent crime. He'll even be able to defend his J6 pardons on the basis that he has proven himself tough on political crime.

Denise Garcia-Barham's avatar

No, the feds will fuck it up and he'll walk. This admin can't do shit correctly or honestly. They act in bad faith every. single. time.

My fear is that the Feds prevail, he’s convicted and then Trump pardons him. If the state charges stick, Trump can’t pardon. One can only hope that justice will win in the end.

But when Trump appoints Vance Luther Boelter as the US Diplomat to Hungary or Russia, can he be extradited?

Doctor Go's avatar

Feds want the case so Trump can turn around and pardon the guy.

Lorna Jost's avatar

federal charges can be pardoned by the orange one

A cynic would suggest the Feds are trying to keep the state of Minnesota out of the case so Putin’s Apprentice can pardon him after the Feds have screwed up the state’s case.
