Deep down in his reptilian brain, Trump thinks he’s doing good. He has a lot of hate in his heart and takes it out on others by crashing everything around him. His first big “success” was losing his father’s fortune. Wash, rinse, repeat.
And bankrupting casinos obtained with OPM. At its heart, tRump's biggest failing is that he knows nothing and understands nothing. His only skill is fleecing people...
Trump = Dumber than a stone. No way he did the work to get a degree from UPenn. I wonder who did the work for him. Or, did he buy a degree? Why do you think his parents sent this incorrigible brat to Military School? It wasn’t because he was excelling in civilian school!
"But Trump seems incapable of doing anything other than making matters worse." Depends on to whom. He is making matters better for MAGA, who want America a country of white people dominating. His billionaire supporters are immune from any economic downtorn.
Who runs American foreign policy? The Clown Prince of the Apprentice? Little Marco? The great American Oligarchs? The Xenophobic Fever Dreams of Sen. Lindsay Graham? The Criminal Overlord of the once great Nation of Israel? The Book of Revelations?
It quite a mystery. We know who doesn't run it..The Interests of the American People.
Why are we surprised by this? Trump the business man and "stable genius" has run everything he's touched to bankruptcy. The only difference now is the scale of the destruction. And now he is adding arson to his toolbox, burning down the world before he leaves the building.
The MAGA Voodoo Cult (formerly the "Birthers") worship him because he scratches their bigotry itch. Their motivation is racial, religious, & misogynistic bigotry, not the economy. He will lie as always and the MVC will believe. He will blame everything on Biden, Obama, & Hillary's e-mails and they will believe.
"The only question is if and when they will decide to reverse course."
How can the MAGA pirate ship reverse course when its hull is shredded and waves of reality keep pounding it further onto the shoals of stupidity? Felon47's gold treasure chest is rapidly littering Davey Jones Locker while his motley crew fight amongst themselves. Lost Jobs?! Right.
It seems as though everything Trump does is designed to destroy our Country and its ability to compete in the world, because it is. His entire Administration appears to be staffed by incompetent fools, because it is. Why, you might ask, would a President continue to make decisions that weaken us? What, you might also ask, do you think the regular phone conversations with Putin are about?
This may seem off-topic, and for that my apologies, but I fear that we can't rely on the midterms to save us from Trump. I believe he is working with foreign powers and tech bros to control the outcome of 2026 and 2028 elections. That is why he and the Republicans are terminally smug and operate as if they had zero future accountability.
The nationwide elections apparatus must be protected from the tech bros, and foreign espionage. Especially in the swing states.
If hackers can cause shutdowns and data breaches to banks, hospitals, local governments, colleges, credit bureaus, insurance exchanges, etc., what would lead one to think that they can't access election systems? Elections software is updated via computers connected, if only briefly, to the web, or flash drives, that are easily corrupted. It might be possible for communication satellites to remotely control election computer software and hardware. It would only require a nano-second window of access or vulnerability; granted perhaps by compliant elections officials.
And now Dominion Voting Systems, used in many states, has been bought by a Republican election denier. He will control the hardware and software, with little if any oversight. What could go wrong?
They are counting on Democrats to have a knee-jerk aversion to the concept of election hacking, if only because Trump falsely accused Democrats of doing it. But the bottom line is that it can be done. But the MSM has totally abandoned its critical role of investigative reporting, so there is nobody left to follow the plentiful evidence wherever it leads.
Trump thanked Musk in January 2025 for his "great knowledge of the vote counting computers" which led to Trump's so-called landslide victory.
Musk has publicly declared many times that any computer can be hacked simply by changing one line of code to alter an outcome.
Remember above all else: every Trump accusation ("Democrats rigged the 2020 election") amounts to an admission. He and his corrupt and unprincipled minions rigged 2024; they intend to rig 2026 and 2028.
"The only state that does not use paper ballots statewide? Louisiana — a Republican stronghold that has consistently supported Trump in past elections.
Meanwhile, a handful of counties in states like Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Indiana still use electronic voting machines that lack a voter-verified paper trail."
We could do it but it would take money. VoteBeat points out that Trump has never proposed federal money to help a state like LA convert over.
Sadly, I think this is accurate. I think we are not the only people who noticed Trump's praise of Musk's skill with voting machines, and of course the "SAVE" ("Suppress All Voters Everwhere") act will cause obvious, immediate, devastating chaos. The DJT announces at 7 pm EST that every election has been called for the Rs and dares anyone to go to court over it. I believe this is the literal answer to the current crop of elected Rs. They are confident that starting now, no one who isn't planning to vote for them will be allowed near the polls, and even so, the Muskrat's "single line of code" will fix things. The "paper ballots" thing is just to allow any election that escapes suppression AND the magic of voting machines be called for the Rs first and landed in the land of "people in a room moving paper" for the following 4 years. Nonetheless, I think we have to be as loud as we can at the Rs about how we ARE going to hold them accountable. A few have gotten scared enough to back out. We need to spread and encourage a belief that there are rank and file Rs who will vote the toadies out.
Vote by mail. You'll notice that Trump is very opposed to voting by mail, so I conclude that whatever he is planning will not affect those ballots. Also watch out for last-minute voter roll purges: as the day approaches, check your voter registration monthly, then weekly, and then daily to make sure you have not been purged.
I don't agree at all, and I think this is a dangerous statement that helps the MAGA base - it does not help us progressives.
If people believe this, they will believe their vote doesn't count, and therefore they will not vote. So the effect of this statement is actually to support capitulating in advance.
For this administration to succeed in skewing the election, they would have to be able to influence, one by one, not only all 3,000-something counties in the US, but the even greater number of precincts that make up those counties. Lots of people who actually care about accurate elections will be keeping their eyes on each of those precincts. And there are still a lot of people who actually care, among election officials at the local level.
I don't believe - and it's a self-defeating belief, given that, again, the more people who believe it, the fewer people who will take the trouble to vote - that the election can be broadly skewed by technological interference.
Please stop spreading this idea. You are doing MAGA's work for them.
I believe that the massive turnout in 2020 negated Trump's and Putin's efforts to rig/hack that election, leading to Biden's win.
I am not at all dissuaded from voting, and I will always vote, as will everyone I know, hoping for an even more massive turnout in 2026 and 2028.
Ultimately I am hoping to witness a counter force of IT experts and tech mavens to oppose these corrupt Trump IT operatives. Anonymous? Academics?
You are quite possibly doing MAGA's work by such an extreme blanket denial of any possibility of MAGA, Trump, Putin, Musk. etc. malfeasance, in the face of a glaring potential threat.
Remember Trump's "winning" the seven swing states in 2024, which was in fact unprecedented? Musk bragged publicly he won 2024 for Trump. I don't doubt it.
Jen, you end your piece with "...if and when they will decide to reverse course" when referring to MAGAts blind and obedient support of the failed policies of the current regime/junta headed by the Dear Leader. The short answer is "NEVER." They will continue to roll over and play dead as long as he tells them to do so. How many years have we been waiting for them to realize that DL is a danger to the country and only cares about feeding his neurotic ego, their best interests be damned?
When you have been consuming the poisoned Kool Aid for years, apparently there is no cure. They will never hold the monster accountable for his heinous actions (01/06/2021 being the most egregious but there are a host of others).
We have to accept the fact that they have a terminal illness known as Drumpf Sycophancy Syndrome.
The WH Monster scratches their Bigotry Itch. His Republican predecessors did it with "dog whistles". He does it with a bull horn and they love it. For them its not the economy. It's the bigotry.
No one can tell the idiot that tariffs won't force other countries to manufacture here. That "policy" will just anger them and they'll strike back with tariffs of their own. Biden had U.S. manufacturing going in the right direction, especially with the Chips and Science Act, with several new plants under construction. Republicans are so intent on serving their donor/masters they had to be tricked into signing off on that bill. When are people going to realize the Republians, ever since Hoover, have been the root cause of all our two steps forward, one step backward progress on that more perfect union the founders wanted?
The erratic tariff (and other) policies aren't going to encourage ANY manufacturers, foreign or domestic, to build, staff, or produce products here. As I said in another post, the term 'uncertainty' influences all.
Here in “red” (really, purplish) Georgia, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported yesterday that Battery America—one of the number of factories in the state created in recent years to manufacture EV batteries, EVs, solar panels, etc.—is laying off nearly 1,000 manufacturing employees. The Korean-owned company already has laid off hundreds more at its other plants here in Georgia. This state, like other red states, benefitted from Joe Biden’s wise focus on supporting 21st century manufacturing—aimed at serving the growing renewables sector.
But Trump’s irrational hatred of renewable energy and its related products has devastated what was an exciting time of growth for American manufacturing. His absurd obsession with coal and other fossil fuels—and oblivion to the grave harm they inflict on the environment and on human health—is just one more way he is inflicting pain and suffering on the very people who support(ed) him.
Will they ever wake up? Will the Republican Party ever wake up? Oh, right. the party died when they chose to follow their orange Pied Piper as he leads them—and the entire country—off the cliff. Lemmings that they are, they seem just fine with it all.
They won't wake up because they don't believe he's at fault, if Kentucky is any indication. The same thing happened there, and their Dem Governor called it like it is, but when reporters interviewed people who had just lost their jobs, they blamed Ford for not anticipating their market correctly!
It is extraordinary, the lengths to which MAGA True Believers go to justify their being conned and abused by their Dear Leader. Classic behavior of abused people.
Gas has gone up $1 per gallon in a week around here. Do the MAGA folk register that?? Or do they blame that on Biden's presidency and Hillary's emails?
Per Sherlock Holmes, begin by looking at motivation first. tRump takes direction from Putin. This will benefit Putin. It allows tRump to give the Russian economy and its war with Ukraine a big boost without having to explain anything to Congress - except, possibly, the war itself but way too late to matter. Once you light the fuse, the conflagration begins and doesn't stop easily because the region is unstable without active restraint on all sides.
"lost jobs." Did we misplace them like keys which we often can't find? But then found, we realized they were in an obvious place. And the reason jobs were often lost seem obvious too. Outsized ambition from employers, the rush to AI, the desire for greater market share, to be a king of the universe. Or given the last two years, from cruelty, spite and zero planning given the erraticism of our government. These "lost jobs" however are not just a statistic; they're always about a person. Someone who was told they were no longer needed or necessary. Someone who's dreams or just daily desires were put on hold. My idea for a new National Mall monument: a tribute to those who once held lost lobs. The jobs which produced life-saving work for USAID, or great scientific research at the NIH, or the great creative work for an agency's client which will now be replaces by AI. Studs Terkel wrote a book decades ago called "Working." Perhaps its time to do a second edition version, "Not Working" which looks at those who are no longer and the institutional changes needed to protect jobs.
1. FLASH. Krasnov was told by Putin to end the war, now that oil prices make Russia great again.
2. 92,000 jobs. I know this pisses people off, but the reason the Department of Labor Dictionary of Occupational Ttitles hasn't been published since 1992 is because the number of occupations has dwindled due to stuff like technology.
I keep askling AI: What can the average person do to make all of us more healthy, wealthy and wise? .
Yes, structural unemployment as well as underemployment are issues that the US government has stopped publishing data on for decades. Yet, job seekers face the attrition of former job position all the time. It is a very challenging job market these days. IF there was a US government DOL that cared about issues like AI impact on job market, there would be incentivized programs on how the unemployed can transition to other positions with their skills. Of course, that would be assuming that this regime actually cares about the voters instead of plotting to disenfranchise their votes in order to continue the grift.
There would have to be objectives (and strategy) for there to be anything to "scope", assuming that means 'to look at' or examine. That may be what is meant, but with that idiot, who knows?
My media dream is an outlet that doesn't report anything Trump SAYS at all, but only what he does and how his actions affect people.
Back in the day, there were posters that said, "What if they gave a war and nobody came?" What if Trump had a press conference and nobody showed up? What if reporters didn't travel with him on his plane and hang on his every word when he's coming back from a golf weekend? (Thereby setting up the news agenda for Monday with the regurgitation.)
His latest way of using the press is to personally call mainstream reporters - the ones he would pass over in a press conference in favor of Fox or OAN. Instead, he calls them on their cell phones and says whatever he wants to each individual. What if they didn't pick up?
That's my fantasy. People ignoring him would be a fate worse than death for him.

Please don't lambaste stones :)
Stones have feelings too...
What he does is good for 🍊 IT and 🍊 IT ONLY.
He thinks? He behaves more as if he responds with reactions drummed up by his addled mind.
Anything in that addled mind has been placed there by his manipulators (Miller, Netanyahu, Putin)
You definitely hit the major players. His own delusions, paranoia, hate and weakness provide the seasonings.
"But Trump seems incapable of doing anything other than making matters worse." Depends on to whom. He is making matters better for MAGA, who want America a country of white people dominating. His billionaire supporters are immune from any economic downtorn.

Kick the bums out!
Ah, you left out the ever-influential Stephen Miller. He holds a place.
Of course. The court Nazi. Thanks
And don't forget Russell Vought.
Yes, one of the major creators of Project 2025 who's on staff to implement it.
israel and Russia are running our foreign policy.
We will.

He is currently on track to bankrupt the USA and perhaps the world, this guy is powerfully stupid.
Yugely stupid.
Another difference is that he is now bankrupting US. The taxpayers and the grandchildren of taxpayers.
Amen.
It seems as though everything Trump does is designed to destroy our Country and its ability to compete in the world, because it is. His entire Administration appears to be staffed by incompetent fools, because it is. Why, you might ask, would a President continue to make decisions that weaken us? Making Americans poorer, less educated, and sicker is not good for the US, but it is good for someone else.
putin
Trump! He even said that he liked the uneducated. They're easier to bamboozle and direct.
treason

so let's change to paper ballots and hand counting ?
We have a paper ballot backup for nearly all votes cast already. That's why the "ultimate" recount usually results in people in a room shifting paper. https://www.votebeat.org/2025/12/01/trump-lindell-paper-ballots-election-security-myth/
According to that site, as of last year,
"The only state that does not use paper ballots statewide? Louisiana — a Republican stronghold that has consistently supported Trump in past elections.

There would have to be objectives (and strategy) for there to be anything to "scope", assuming that means 'to look at' or examine. That may be what is meant, but with that idiot, who knows?
Let's end all this fact-checking.
Instead, the media could simply report Trump's messages in two separate stories -- what he said that was true, and what he said that was false.
Sadly, one of those stories would always be longer . . . and the other might not even be necessary.
.
My media dream is an outlet that doesn't report anything Trump SAYS at all, but only what he does and how his actions affect people.
