The really bad people are Vance, Vought and Miller. They are the ones that are running this Administration of Cruelty!!! If tRump is gone they will still be there and nothing will change!!! Please be aware of ALL the power brokers and criminals running this government!!!!

I agree wholeheartedly with Laura. Without Vance, Vought and Miller, Trump is a small man.

The Coke Brothers's avatar

He's an even smaller man with them.

The accounting of waste is a daunting task which The Contrarians have begun. THANK YOU! I only wish we could put this info on a "scorecard" or "report card" that flashed on every interstate in the country. It would show the spending of an out-of-control leader who will never have enough of other people's money.

Mary Lowry Smith's avatar

Waste-and-fraud billboards along major interstates is a great idea!

C. King's avatar

All one has to do is watch ICE to see the regular manifestation of waste, fraud, and especially abuse. And all of that flows from the White House, like and endless sewer.

Nadine Bangerter's avatar

I would add Mike Johnson. He isn't really working for Congress - he is working for the Trump regime.

Charles's avatar

Little Mikey is useless, except as "Congressional Spokesman" for the regime. He is effectively the regime's lackey in the House. He serves no visible purpose as a leader.

C. King's avatar

I'm not so sure of the continued power of those few people, that when you consider the very different idea of CULT, which obviously has taken hold (with lots of help) in the so-called MAGA community. (Still at circa 40 percent!!!????) I think that will go away pretty quickly, probably to a variable extent, when Trump is gone.

HERE'S A QUICK & EASY -- BUT VERY EFFECTIVE -- WAY TO KEEP THE TRUMP-EP$TEIN CONNECTION IN THE NEWS

Epstein-Bestie Trump has used about 50 different distractions to redirect attention away from his connections to the EP$TEIN $EX-TR@FFICKlNG ring. As his actions escalate in atrociousness (ICE violence & deportations, removing Medicaid, etc.), the likelihood increases that his distractions will succeed.

WE MUST KEEP THE TRUMP-EP$TEIN CONNECTION FRONT-AND-CENTER IN THE MIND OF EVERY VOTER.

This will help tip the opinions of even MAGAs against Trump, and in turn help redirect the US away from autocracy. Just as the TACO nickname stuck to him, we can do the same by using the nickname Epstein-Bestie Trump. The optimal usage is to replace "President" with this nickname on the first instance of his name in every article, video etc. (See the first paragraph above).

They can conjure up and facilitate the evil agenda, but I seriously doubt that they could "sell" it. Trump is a life long con man who lies as easily as he speaks. Can you imagine Miller--who is a doppelgänger for a nazi back in the day--or chubby cheeked shifty eyed Vance or swooper appearing Vought trying to persuade MAGA of the need to take away their health care in order to give billionaires a tax cut?

Charles's avatar

Trump doesn't have "sell" his program or agenda, all he does is issue Executive Orders. He then sits back to see if any court rules against his usually illegal/unconstitutional EOs. This is what passes for "presidential leadership" these days.

"If we really want to get rid of waste, fraud, and abuse we should get rid of the MAGA regime—and before that, boot out the do-nothing MAGA congressional majorities that eschew oversight." Jen's letter usually ends with an action to take, not criticisms which are sweet to hear but prayers to a horse's ears. They are wastes of words. My question is what can we voters do now to stop Trump wastes?

I suggest we get rid of the Republican President and the sycophantic MAGAs before they totally loot the country.

And let's not forget the $$$$ being wasted on concealing the Epstein affair from the public eye. Masterminded by Todd Blanche. But supported by so many insiders as well. For example, in front of the world, Mike Johnson refuses to seat a duly elected representative just so he can continue to protect the files of a sexual predator. Sort of rips the mask off his faked humility and reasonableness to reveal a craven, ambitious, amoral person of low character. And Blanche, Johnson, and Trump will continue to spend $$$ obfuscating. Looking at you Chuck Grassley and Mike Johnson for the cover-up.

John Gregory's avatar

but Fox 'news' plays non-stop at commissaries across the country. So what do most members of the military think is happening? Has it any relationship to reality?

Jay Jay Eh's avatar

I’ve read that the higher ranking military are less inclined to swallow the propaganda whole — guess because they’re more trained in ‘critical thinking’ and seen more of the real world.

C C's avatar

Let's hope there are still enough of them left when "the dust settles."

This discussion with Rear Admiral Mike Smith on NPR is dated February 22, 2025:

"Firings at the most senior level of the U.S. military are causing concern among present and former military leadership about the political independence of the nation's defense forces. Last night, President Donald Trump fired four-star general Charles Q. Brown Jr., a one-time fighter pilot who was only the second Black officer to hold the title of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In total, six Pentagon officials have been fired, including the first woman to lead the Navy, the vice chief of the Air Force and the top lawyers for the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The Trump administration insists the firings are due to the military leadership's focus on diversity, saying that it has lost sight of its role as a combat force. But Rear Admiral Mike Smith, president of the National Security Leaders for America, says these changes are about politics."

Mike Johnson, Senator Thune, and the Republicans have given away Congress' power. Why do they think doing so makes them more secure?

Stephen Brady's avatar

They fear retribution from tRump and their base at home.

Giving away their power will not make them safer from Trump and their voters.

That is because our government no longer works, Judy. It seems to have been broken for some time now.

Ivan Tufaart's avatar

Ever since Reagan, politicians (especially right-wing ones) have justified tax cuts for the wealthy by saying that removal of "waste, fraud and abuse" will more than make up for the lost revenue.

And ya' know what? Somehow once the politicians get elected, the "waste, fraud and abuse" miraculously is gone.

Ya' know why? Maybe it's because there ain't that much "waste, fraud and abuse" to begin with!

Al Keim's avatar

Regan was a union leader who sold war bonds and made movies in the 40's, moved on to TV in the 50's and was asked to help pay for WW2. It was then that he discovered waste. fraud and abuse, rode that into the governor's office then discovered George Wallace and rode that into the presidency.

Jay Jay Eh's avatar

But he actually was America’s greatest union BUSTER!

Ask the air traffic controllers of the 80s … and the tone set there for even more union busting.

Al Keim's avatar

Unlike our current Cesar he definitely forgot from whence he came.

Jay Jay Eh's avatar

Yes, I was going to add the “pulling up the drawbridge after himself” saying but thought to KISS - keep it simple, stupid.

I also wonder what % of pro-Trump Latinos fall under this ‘I’ve got mine, Jack!’ heading, and how many of them are changing their tune now.

— the oft used rationale there is “they shd come in ‘legally’, the way I did!” Seemingly not appreciating the fact that ‘legal’ definitions (esp under Trump) are dangerously shifting sands.

* I fluctuate between feeling sorry for the gullibles & criticizing them, depending on genuine vs willful ignorance.

* Latinos have the added incentive of a desire for protective coloration, as in ‘fitting in’ by disavowing the ‘right/wrong’ people.

Science Curmudgeon's avatar

Again, this is the standard tRump pattern - accuse the opponent of what he is about to do.

Steve 218's avatar

And is currently doing.

Science Curmudgeon's avatar

Example: remember "cancel culture"? That's what he is doing via all his leverage on businesses and other organizations to restrain freedom of expression by employees. Speak on "private" social media and get fired because the company fears tRump. Of course, the First Amendment doesn't apply to the President (or the Judiciary) anyway. It only applies to Congress. EOs and Court orders both have the power of law but are not created by Congress.

Steve 218's avatar

Someone needs to cancel Trump's idea of "culture". Could a third impeachment be the charm?

Lydia Lucas's avatar

Unfortunately, no. Counter-productive, in fact. In the current climate, as we saw with the first two impeachment attempts, it would just be tilting at windmills and would solidify his supporters, who would jump all over an excuse to present it as further evidence that all his opponents want is to "get" him. In due course, the 25th Amendment is perhaps a better bet.

Steve 218's avatar

His lackey-toady cabinet secretaries are the ones who can invoke the 25th Amendment, and you know darned well that they aren't going to do that - loyalty, you know....

Lydia Lucas's avatar

Unless it gets to the point that they feel their own positions, reputations, etc., to be unduly in jeopardy, and perhaps Vance starts looking like a safer bet. Then -- who knows? It would be a fascinating spectator sport if it weren't all so very serious.

Marie Carota's avatar

Thank you for this list of unnecessary expenses. Everyday there is more waste and abuse by these fraudsters. It is so huge we lost count. Now we have a good list to keep track. It is so horrible to hear this regime name calling anyone who doesn’t like what they do as left wing lunatics and now before no kings 2 , terrorists!! They are wanting to provoke We The People. I hope and pray that the people stand strong on Oct 18. Most of the people I know who have been protesting are church goers, professionals, retired military and centrists. The people acting like terrorists are ICE.

A. Lastick's avatar

It seems to me that allowing Trump to remain in office is literally like playing Russian Roulette with America's democracy and respect in the world.

I fear we might have already lost.

Judy Swift's avatar

Thank you for tallying all this up! I have been waiting for someone to point out the staggering total of both Trump's grift and Trump's waste. And of course the human costs - getting rid of those with expertise, cutting research, laying off valuable public servants, endangering hospitals and farmers - those costs are largely unseen. But they will be felt for years to come.

Steve 218's avatar

Everything that you enumerated is either wasteful, fraudulent, abusive or a combination of all three. Trump himself is the greatest example. As a human being, he's a waste. As a president, he's a fraud. His policies and actions constitute abuse - of the people, the country, democracy and of the constitution. The crazy old gonif and his wrecking crew has got to go.

A. Lastick's avatar

AND, the longer he remains in office the sicker our country becomes, literally!

You can definitely take that to the bank!

Susan Iwanisziw's avatar

Orange con man pulled a sensational international grift yesterday claiming he achieved peace in Mideast. Hamas is as strong and dangerous as ever; killing Palestinians as we speak. Hamas leaders and top terror managers given protection by US and Qatar as part of Trump's business dealings. 2000 terrorists exchanged for 20 Israeli hostages and Biden obtained release of nearly 85% of hostages and obtained a cease fire until thwarted by Bibi and Trump. What a scam!

John Gregory's avatar

though keep in mind that the Palestinian prisoners being released by Israel have mostly been arrested and held without charges, much less trial. So no saying if any of them are terrorists, rather than, say, making faces at a police officer.
