Very, very special laurels to Jafar Panahi. While some of the other people who spoke out risked some negative comments or having their show cancelled, none of these are the risk an Iranian artist takes by going against the regime.
I would certainly add Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona for so bravely and forcefully advising the military that they have the right and the duty to refuse to carry out illegal orders which clearly violate International Law, American laws, the U.S. Constitution and/or the U.S. Military Code. As the Nuremberg trial judges and countless judges who have followed them have ruled, asserting t "I was just following orders" is no defense. A great many of those Nazi's who raised this defense were hanged.Every civilized nation has recognized, with the exception of fascist states with fascist judges, this principle, with the exception of Donald J. Trump.
In my opinion, South Park was the most important show on tv this year. Props also to everyone else on this list, including breakout star Jesse Wells. As others have mentioned, I would also add Springsteen.
Thanks to the Artists that can draw a big audience. I carried a sign at the 1st No Kings, DeNiro was right. Shame on those that accepted the "awards" from 🍊 A$$ at the Kennedy Center. Perhaps they can be sighted as counterfeit one day.
OK but also give some props to the producers and sponsors who put on the Super Bowls, concerts, etc., where these performers speak to us. They are surely being subjected to pressure as well.

I fell in love with Jen Rubin's writing voice a couple of years before she left the Washington Post. I still love that voice.
