I have not watched “60 Minutes” since Scott Pelley was fired. I have no intention of watching as long as the Ellisons and Bari Weiss are in control.

Father Ross has always been an opportunistic and not very bright light whether he was at the NY Times or now on 60 Minutes doing a sort of Andy Rooney bit at the end. I no longer watch the program and I found myself mentally retching whenever I would read Douthat in the Times.

Great! Now what about making the climate safe for humanity? Why is AI a threat but climate change is not? https://apnews.com/article/epa-power-plants-trump-coal-gas-climate-cac1c2c75f8656d8eaf5f0a240edae15

They're both dire threats, but they have different properties. Climate change threatens to kills us slowly over centuries; in the near and even medium term, most humans on the planet are likely to live about the same as they do now. The AI threat, as imagined in pieces like https://ai-2027.com, may arrive globally all at once.

I was shocked to see Nora. I always liked her reporting and always watched her anchor the news. She was my favorite. I can’t believe she sank that low. I lost all respect for her after watching that piece.

On the bright side, Douhat isn't taking up column inches at the Times anymore.

He had a knack for making my coffee sour, my eyes roll, & testing my tolerance for smug fools.

Stahl and fellow correspondents Jon Wertheim and Bill Whitaker released a joint statement in June saying they would return to the show because “we don’t want to see ‘60 Minutes’ die.”

I dunno. Sounds like putting the suffering beast out of its misery is the better choice.
