This decision is so obviously biased in trump's favor, it makes me wonder, once again, who among the Supreme justices are in the Epstein files and what other bribes have brought the majority to heel.

We are about to get the ultimate test of the SCOTUS support of Trump with their shadow docket decision regarding the post office scheme to remove ballots. My feeling is if they allow this scheme to go forward, the only solution is for ordinary people to hit the streets.

It is hard to fathom that our legal system basically says no one has “standing” i.e. is demonstrably harmed - when our elected president breaks the law. The author of this essay is a most highly qualified law professor at a top law school. He knows of what he speaks. The 5 hacks on the SupCt are obviously captured and are no longer independent, legitimate jurists.

Thank you for your commentary. If there is no rule of law, there is no purpose for a Supreme Court that no longer functions to fairly interpret and uphold our Constitution and the laws of our land. It feels like the Republican Congress and the Supreme Court have now adopted the same technique that protected Susan Collins. And the Miserable 5 have stepped in to replace Congress, since they believe Congress should act but isn't. So we'll act in their place and allow a lawless President to use taxpayer money to build illegal monuments to himself. These issues were not debated or voted upon, nor was the structure of the President's campaign.
So now we can add two more things to our mountain of problems. The Supreme Court is supporting illegal actions by a convicted criminal who doesn't support the Constitution, and they have replaced a non-functioning Republican Congress despite not having that power. They have simply usurped the power.
The second thing is globally existential, and that is the collapse of the Himalayan glaciers that has tragically created floods and rock slides that damaged human settlements. I had hoped we would have acted on the science that links carbon-based energy (oil, that is) to the increase in global warming. Instead, our country chose to elect a President who openly solicited bribes from the global oil industry in the form of donations to his bank accounts, payable in crypto, dollars, and gold bars, etc. In repayment to his friends, he chose to kidnap Venezuela's President, steal their oil, and set up a JV with a lawless South American criminal family. Then he chose to attack Iran and light the Middle East oilfields on fire to completely pollute our climate.
None of these things serve the "American People", remember, "We the People"? Trump never did, and sadly now we know that our Supreme Court is not ours any longer. And now we are exposed.
Maybe next Mad King Donald will take a wrecking ball to the Supreme Court building and replace it with a wrestling ring for his staged fights. What’s to stop him? Literally nothing, according to the fascist wing of the “highest court in the land.” And the Roberts Court has very clearly demonstrated their belief that the Supreme Court has no function in government anymore, ceding all power to the executive. By that logic, there is no reason for them to convene any longer, or hear cases, or collect salaries that WE pay for. So tear down their building, give them all pink slips, take away their salaries, health care, and benefits. See if they feel the same way then if Thomas and Alito and the others can’t accept bribes and cruise and dine with billionaires.
I guess this’ll mean we’ll soon have an Arc de Trump. But it’ll also mean a future administration could demolish these structures. As usual, chaos from the Roberts court.
Once Democrats get back into power, Congress needs to rebuild the judicial branch in a way that strips the Supreme Court of nearly all of its power.
As for the destruction of the East Wing, it's illegal. Once we have a Democratic AG again, everyone involved in destroying the White House, from Trump downward, can be charged under 18 U.S.C. §1361 for destruction of federal property. That carries a sentence of up to ten years in prison, and Trump also can be fined for the damage. If I'm reading 18 U.S.C. §3571(d) correctly, he could be charged for "not more than *** twice the gross loss" tp the USA from having the East Wing demolished. What was the East Wing worth? Prosecute Trump and let a jury sort it out.
The Roberts Court is worse than Trump. He doesn’t bother even pretending to care about the rule of law, while the Spurious Six use the pretense of it to license its very destruction.
