The thugs who took down the Über driver in DC not only looked like thugs, they acted like thugs. It also looks to me like they initiated the violence by taking him down so they could beat on him and electrocute him.
Every one of those thugs looked to me like they had no prior law enforcement experience whatsoever and they joined the convicted felon's Gestapo only so they could legally mistreat people. It doesn't look like it's just a racist thing on the part of these thugs, because many of them are black and brown themselves. Just like Hitler's Gestapo, they joined the convicted felon's Gestapo simply for the joy of being able to mistreat others.
Or the safety of being part of the "winning" team, thinking that they won't be turned on next. Nothing to stop that. So many Latino immigrants voted for Trump, thinking that they've got theirs and it's fine to slam the door shut for those coming up behind them. I was astonished to watch a Hispanic restaurant manager cheering on the "nay" votes during Trump's televised impeachment vote in the Senate. I never set foot in that restaurant again. Maybe take a lesson in solidarity folks. My dad came from Cuba. We all owe what is left of our freedom to this country's embrace of immigrants.

The author makes excellent, well-researched and reasoned points. Sadly, the reality is that this fear is not generated by people engaging in rational, thoughtful reasoning. Rather, they are all about pure hate and power. And so, the question becomes very simple - how are we going to fight fascism in America? Articles like this point out the truth and frankly are preaching to the choir, but do very little to arm us to confront fascism. Respectfully, we need real-world, active solutions, not more thoughtfulness.
Americans aren't willing to put our bodies on the line anymore. And the opposition is too well-armed, anyway, and willing to aim at their neighbors. I honestly don't know what the solution is.
We have to let our latino friends, neighbors and employees (part time or otherwise) know that we care about them and their family’s safety AND we will help them to the best of our ability if they need financial assistance!! And give them moral support!

Perhaps it’s time our schools, work places and places of worship as well as our homes should also be turned into fortresses with not only weapons but legal representation on site. Breaking into one’s home, school or workplace by ICE or any other should be treated as a crime. Perhaps restaurants and businesses should close and refuse to serve food or other services to the DC politicians and their ilk until they can cease and desist their criminal behavior. This may be extreme but something must give.
