I hope there will be some follow up on the chances of success on appeal of this terrible verdict. It’s beyond belief really and I’m a lawyer and I thought I’d seen it all.
So everybody who fought in world war II againts Nazi Germany and Fascists Italy……are they considered historical terrorists?? Such a crap. I will celebrate the 250 when all these cretinos are gone!
The government has already gone down the path of destruction. Until we can teach our kids, but especially our own people what is going on here with our government is the opposite of anti-fascism. Until our own including both children and adults can learn from what is happening now is the only way we can stop the threat of fascism. It is going to take a lot of well read people in the modern Democratic Party to talk about what is happening now and to compare and contrast what happened in the past to really get the point across. Jen and Norm are both excellent examples of pro-democracy advocates to talk about this kind of stuff. Great job Lily!
I thought only Congress can create a federal crime. Since when can that be done via EO? Isn't it a violation of the First Amendment to put a specific religion on a pedestal for special consideration?
Very interesting that the EO was written soon after the murder of Charlie Kirk. They obviously capitalized on that violent event. Another example of why a violent response to authoritarians is usually not the most effective: they just use it as an excuse to become more repressive.
It's all part of the playbook. Fascinate the fools, muzzle the intelligent.
Immigrants, minorities, women, LGBTQ and eventually the liberals all carefully removed, restricted or incarcerated.
If it is successfully implemented, the fools will lose their guns and also become part of the oppressed, without ever realizing or recognizing how they were duplicitous in their own demise as well.
I think it’s impossible to exaggerate the civil liberties threat that NSPM-7 poses for anyone who opposes the regime — or who the regime opposes and prosecutes on ideological grounds. It may well have a muzzling effect on pro-democracy efforts to protect free and fair elections this year, with catastrophic results.
All the veterans of WW-II, Korean War, Viet Nam War, and the Iraq War, are Anti Fascists by dictionary definition; they opposed fascism with their lives and used force to do so. The collection of ideas in the EO absconds with the dictionary definition and replaces it with an arbitrary collection of ideas. Are they joined by an "OR" clause or are they joined by an "AND" clause? If "AND" they must all be present to reach a conclusion. If "OR" then nearly anyone tRump wants to attack could be included - that is textbook unconstitutionally broad.
Does the EO provide a crisp, executable definition of this asserted Antifa "organization"? If not, it is just a placeholder label to be used like a self-stick stamp for an envelope that will work no matter what is inside the envelope. That is unconstitutionally vague.
An organization that has a set of properties is defined behaviorally but without stable structure along with a set of properties. A First Amendment protest is not a criminal conspiracy; fireworks are legal in Texas. What is not legal is for one of the group members to use a firearm against a police officer. The conviction makes sense, but not the terrorist amplification. A subset of properties by themselves are insufficient to infer the full set of properties, most notably the intent to overthrow the government and the rule of law. I fault the jury for not understanding the logic and the defense attorney for not educating them in the fallacy of reasoning by the prosecutor.
The next Non-MAGA President should immediately pardon all 8 of the convicted "Antifa Terrorists" convicted in the not-so-great State of Texas, and commute the sentence of the 9th defendant sentenced to 100 years. The latter did discharge a firearm and physically assaulted an officer, but he sure as hell did not deserve a sentence multiple times longer than the Proud Boyus "leaders" received, but were fully pardoned. These convictions are a travesty of justice, and a sham and a farce!

"Such a Crap" may not be the most idiomatic English, but I think it should be immortalized as the official historical descriptor of the MAGA movement.
You make me laugh! Jajajajaj I am argentinian but have been living in the USA for 32 yrs…my english is “ peculiar” jajajajajjaja
Ah, so you left the land of Messi for the land of Crappy. Well good luck to your team, they are looking great!
Never heard of”such a crap” before. It’s excellent, precise !
Jajajajaj. THis regime makes me use the term very often!!! They are such a crap!! Jajaj
If you aren’t ANTI FASCIST….then you are FASCIST! Simple as that!!!!!!!
This really makes me sick. I hope they can win on appeal…or worst comes to worst be pardoned by the next democratic president.
Is there no recourse over these ghastly prison sentences ???
I am as antifascist as my father was, when he and thousands of other American (and other nationalities) antifascists beat Germany in the ETO.

Michelle, thanks, I could not have said it better.

Can the convicted appeal and be on bond til they are tried?

So, heres the problem: if you’re not anti-fascist, you are by definition a traitor. You are either one or the other, there is no other option.

Here is the EO: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/09/designating-antifa-as-a-domestic-terrorist-organization/
"A implies B; B therefore A" is false.

It's Texas.
Sad, but funny.
