The reason to go for broke in the election? 1 The House will impeach him for multiple crimes. (the easy part). They do it in a big noisy, splashy show trial that digs deep and spreads it wide.

2 (hard part) The Senate has enough Democrats to win the impeachment vote and send him to prison, to confiscate all his stolen, ill-gotten goods, and then go after all the cronies. That should be our platform for the next 4 months.

The conditions in ICE facilities are being created by the same private for profit companies who run prisons. In prisons water can be denied for up to 5 days but only a few prisoners die. The same goes for denying food for several weeks at a time. It is more common for food to cause violent illness for specific prisoners repeatedly - and nobody else. Sometimes odd things like maggots and broken glass show up in the food. When prisoners refuse to eat, they are listed as attempting suicide and put into full solitary confinement. There are certain cells that have no camera coverage (intentionally). Those are called punishment cells. What happens there is not recorded or witnessed. I would expect similar treatment for ICE detainees because the facilities are administered by the same companies. Money that should go to food, sanitation, and other essential services is diverted to profit so there is less service. Visit some of the quarterly earnings report meetings and watch executives crow about profit generation. Try reading The Jailhouse Lawyer by Calvin Duncan for another view of conditions.

While I am fully in agreement with most of this post, I do have some deep reservations about the transgender sports issue. I say this as one who spent over 20 years as a coach at the elementary and junior high levels. I also speak as a grand uncle whose grandnephews and grandnieces have participated happily and productively on boy/girl teams up to the advent of adolescence.

But I am against allowing those males who have transitioned to female during or after adolescence when nature has begun or finished giving them a man’s strength and musculature to participate in women’s sports.

I’m sorry if my objection seems unfair. But it is isn’t. While I don’t pretend that there aren’t some women of considerable physical strength who might be able to compete on an even keel with some transgender females in some sports, that doesn’t mean that a general allowance of such is in any way fair to the general run of female athletes. Nature can be pushed just so far.

Hi, we included both the link and the QR code. Here it is again: https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings/express?proceeding%5bname%5d=26-124

Your article dodges the central issue. There is a distinct difference between supporting trans youth and supporting trans girls/women in girls/women's sports. We support everyone's individual life decisions. We don't support allowing individuals who are growing up or grew up developing bodies on male testosterone to compete in girls/women's sports. Allowing them to compete against biological females is manifestly unfair and will be a bridge too far for all of us who are otherwise loyal and supportive progressives. Democrats cannot ignore this issue between now and November and hope no one notices. Equivocating on that issue likely cost the party millions of votes in 2024 and will cost them even more in the midterms. Painful as it may be for some candidates, they have to draw a clear line between supporting trans youth and allowing trans girls to compete in female sports.

IPéter Dósa of The Hungary Report, has an excellent article on the similarities and differences between Hungary and the US.
