Your colleague, Steve Vladick, wrote a substack newsletter explaining why Katanji Brown Jackson had to put an administrative stay on the lower court in order for it to remain in her circuit and not go to the full Supreme Court to decide on, which would have been worse. This gave her full control of it in terms of timing and granting relief.
BTW. So happy to hear you chose the govt's Medicare and not the privatized form of Medicare Advantage, which puts all kinds of limits on your healthcare. The 'drawback' to Medicare is that you must buy a supplemental insurance to cover what Medicare does not cover, which is ridiculously expensive. We need a universal single payer health insurance just like all the other developed (and some undeveloped) countries have. The Magas scream about 'efficiency'. What could be more efficient than cutting out the middle man and saving money?

Thank you both, Jen and Norm! After almost a week of semi-blissful news ignorance, I was having a rough time going back to more-or-less-informed--especially when one of the first things I learned of was the 70-some pardons of the architects / enablers behind the scenes of Jan. 6.
Thanks for sharing a little joy--it helped boost me back into the ongoing horrific reality we're living in. Most importantly though, your telling of it gave me some hope that all is not lost yet. The fight goes on--in the courts and in the streets!
