Pearl, you're a year old! You don't have puppy teeth anymore. Those are bad enough, so stop the biting!

Our Irish setter was so painfully oral when she was a puppy that we nicknamed her The Shark and wondered if she'd ever grow out of it. I'm pleased to say that not only did she do that, she is the loviest and sweetest in the succession of 4 setters in our lives. Pro tip: always offer a toy in place of human blood :)

My last sheltie could be a nipper if you surprised her, touched a tender spot, or particularly, tried to tend to her feet. The vet had to use a soft muzzle on her so they could fully tend to her. She could draw blood on occasion, but always backed off as if to say "I'm sorry! You just surprised me!" My other shelties were never biters, but our last girl was highly reactive, and those teeth could hurt. But scolding did help get her to drop her head, grovel for a while, and try to nuzzle and stare as if to say "I can't help it". She was a handful at times, but through behavior modification, we were able to turn around some of her less than optimal behaviors. We miss her.

I recommend a "Hurley" for dogs that want to chew. The company will replace it if the dog manages to destroy it. Our Australian Cattle Dog does not chew on hers anymore, but she does like to curl up with it.

Pearl, you are the cutest pug I have ever seen, and I have seen many. Keep on pondering the universe (that face!) You'll figure it out eventually.

I also have a Pearl. She's a white Standard Poodle.

My neighbor’s pug will eat sticks and leaves. Just about anything if you let him. But he’s a good boy. Bet Pearl is a good girl too. What a cutie!

Awww...!!! SUCH an expressive face ... that wears the worry of the world, the "who me, I'm just a puppy, clueless, ... I didn't do anything wrong on purpose" look of irresistible adorableness. It's a good thing puppies are so cute!! Fortunately, they figure out what makes us happy during the first couple of years, and quickly, deeply, attach themselves as indispensably loved. If "you are what you eat," I strongly suspect Pearl IS, and will be, a precious stone! (She's just giving you a little preview of what is to be, by eating rocks!)
