When I was in my teens, my family had a great tuxedo cat named Rhett. (Yes, he was named for the gentlemanly Rhett Butler of Gone with the Wind that had been re-released in theaters.) Some people were giving away kittens, and my mother admired him. When she returned to the car, the people had deposited through the open window, so he came home with her. We already had two cats, so we did not need another, but one of them took over as "Mom," and would grab him and wash him.
