Governance has virtually stopped under this Republican Congress. No investigations about anything. They have "walled-off" reasoning, and hidden their thoughts behind closed doors, and refused to give town halls, walling off the public's view from consideration. Republicans are not only willing, they are eager to go along with every ludicrous idea of this Trump regime. The reason incompetence reigns, and our nation is being guided by fools who think they know better than the professionals and experts, is that Congress has allowed it. It is our money being spent ... on a ballroom, and on the war, among other major undertakings, and our representatives are not weighing in. There is a common theme amid the chaos: of disasters created by Trump's need to destroy ... and build anew. But what he is building with our money bears no resemblance to a democracy. It is what happens behind all those walls, in secret, that makes us all less secure (especially for any person criminalized and placed in a "detention camp").
"It is our money being spent ... on a ballroom..."
What happened to the promise that Trump was going to bilk his donors for the funds to build this behemoth, and that none would come from the taxpayers? It must be another lie.
Every one of the arguments in this article leave me with the definitive conclusion that this "assassination attempt" was staged in order to give the orange dumpster a stronger argument to build his golden monstrosity soonest.
This "ballroom" wouldn't have begun to hold the crowd attending WHCD. The only result of building this ballroom that is obvious to me is that the WH would then be in the position of deciding who gets invites. That scenario would spell the absolute end of a free press as we know it. Only Trump and his "friends" would have both exclusive access to and control over who gets it.
Trump's assault on everything our democracy has built will not end until he and his GOP enablers are gone from the halls of government. I say this because, so far, it seems neither he nor the GOP will let anything discomfit them in their pursuit of absolute power. I could point to many examples, but, for brevity's sake, I'll mention just two. There's a law on the books that the Epstein files must be coughed up without redaction (except for victim's names) and there's a law on the books about giving an administration the right to engage in war for only 60 days without Congressional approval. Both have been ignored by the Trump administration.
I'd surely like to hear what the DNC is going to do about these two cases.
The Friday War Powers deadline came and went with that lame lie about the war being "over" during a ceasefire. Well, what of the strikes today, dear Congress? What of our money being illegally spent? What of a conflict with no plan and no gain? Ya'd think they'd want some sort of explanation, but they won't even demand that.
The whole scene is dodgy. When shots rang out, why was the president not the first one ushered out of the room by the secret service? Is thiis not what they are supposed to do when there is a question of the safety of the president? It's time for an investigation, but is there any agency without an agenda to do it? So many questions remain, and yet there are few good answers.
The Rs are yelling that we should tone down the rhetoric. That should begin with their boss! Not that less hate speech will prevent violence, but perhaps we shouldn't contribute to the awfulness in the words that are used to defame and denigrate others.

Drump? Lying? Would he?
But of course. When does he not lie?

Translation: we don't believe a fckng thing he says.
The whole situation appears as wonky as hell.

Splendid writing, thank you.

too much money involved in all of it
Everything Trump and his little elf Mikey Johnson had to say about the need for a ballroom was just bullshit.

I'm waiting for the 'breaking news' item informing me that "it" lays in its coffin. A coffin decorated with lots and lots of fake-golden ornaments.
