How incredibly more thoughtful, taseful and beneficial to Chicago's South Side than what Trump has done to the White House. His most recent addition (hopefully temporary) is an abomination.

Thank god there is one good thing to look forward to in this, the 250th birthday of our nation. I don't travel a lot any more, but I will definitely travel to Chicago to this great looking center, probably spring of 2027.

It will be well worth the train ride from South Central Illinois to Chicago.

Civics education has been losing ground in American schools for decades and not through any single decision, but through the accumulated pressure of standardized testing frameworks that pushed it to the margins of the curriculum. A generation of students graduated knowing how to pass reading and math benchmarks and very little about how a bill moves through a state committee, or what a constituent can actually do when a representative votes against what the district asked for.

The Obama Center's scholars program and the broader reinvigoration Simpson describes are worth watching, but I think the work that matters most happens closer to home: in the state legislature that sets the curriculum standards, in the school board that decides what counts as graduation requirements.

Those are elected bodies, and the people they represent can say something about this.

I saw a TV interview about this Center and its offerings. Looks/sounds very promising and fulfilling.

Can’t wait to see it! I’ll bet there’s not one gold/gilted item anywhere in this beautiful place. What a great leader. You’re one in a million.❤️

Lorraine, I love this. But it's the MSI, not the Griffin MSI. (It's still the Sears Tower. It's Marshall Fields, not Macys, etc.)

Yes, it is But still, have to use the formal name 😂

Thank you for understanding why I had to say that as a Chicago.
