Trump has devised a scam to wrest control of both Houses of Congress if the Democrats win control in November by preventing enough Democrats from being sworn in in January.
Trump’s end game is to contrive a scenario that will result in a judge-proof scam to provide cover for the current Republican majorities in the House and Senate to refuse to the swear in enough of the Democratic Congressman/Congresswomen and Senators elected in November that will enable the current Republican majorities to continue to control both houses of Congress over the next two years as these legal issues slowly wind their way through the courts until they ultimately reach the Supreme Court, where Trump’s lackeys will rule, as they did in the gerrymandering cases, that these are political questions beyond the reach of the Supreme Court.
Trump’s strategy is to 1. Identify elected Democrats in races which Trump will designate as having been “stolen” and order Homeland Security instruct the DOJ to investigate. 2. Trump will order enough such investigations by the DOJ as to confer upon the Republican majorities in Congress a cover to delay the January,2027 swearing in of such Democrats until both the DOJ and Congressional investigations of such allegedly “fake” elections are completed, which will take just about 2 years.
This sinister plot is all about preventing the courts from ruling on Congressional issues which Trump’s personal, political and governmental lawyers will claim violate the separation of powers doctrine built into the U.S. Constitution.
Our courts need to step up to the plate to accelerate the adjudications of the legitimacy of such elections to pull the rug out from under Trump’s and the Republicans’ conspiracy to hang on to controlling Congress until the end of Trump’s term.
