An excellent overall summary of the activities out west, and it's especially useful to the voters in these areas if they would read them. We need informed voters, not indoctrinated voters. There is a big difference.
As you tabulate the west, please include Utah's one new congressional district: It includes Salt Lake City, a relatively progressive dot inside a fairly conservative red state. This seat has been a hard fight over several years, especially by efforts including the League of Women Voters. The seat has an excellent chance to go to a (moderate, of course) Democrat. It may only be one seat, but every seat counts towards the whole project of the fight for democracy.
Districts two and three might be in play Blake Moore and Celeste Maloy have been MIA and Peter Crosby and Kent Stewart Udell have both been very, very busy campaigning and talking to constituents at every local event, getting their names out, and well... trying to be competitive. Add to that the average Republican is still furious about data centers, some vowing not to vote Republican this year for the first time ever, and we might have some very, very interesting races.
I was pondering this very issue the last few days…it is so hard to wrap my head around why anyone would support any candidate running on the republican platform with Trumps endorsement 🤷♀️ it really confuses me that we have so many races characterized as “tight” if Trump support is so weak. Why on earth would any of these races be tight? Are there really that many republicans that still thinks the direction our country is heading is a good idea? Really? Wow 🤯
Eli Crane, Arizona 02, is one of the biggest MAGA nuts in the country. His constituent (of which I am unfortunately one) newsletter is actually called "One in the Chamber." Check it out. His constituent newsletter graphic is an AK-47. I am not kidding. This man is unhinged. He is not fit to serve. My concern is that his Democratic opponent is weak. He's a nice old man, a member of the Navajo tribal nation, who can't even get the tribes of our area to vote for him. I fear Crane will go back to Congress, and he is a rabid fascist.
Trump has devised a scam to wrest control of both Houses of Congress if the Democrats win control in November by preventing enough Democrats from being sworn in in January.
Trump’s end game is to contrive a scenario that will result in a judge-proof scam to provide cover for the current Republican majorities in the House and Senate to refuse to the swear in enough of the Democratic Congressman/Congresswomen and Senators elected in November that will enable the current Republican majorities to continue to control both houses of Congress over the next two years as these legal issues slowly wind their way through the courts until they ultimately reach the Supreme Court, where Trump’s lackeys will rule, as they did in the gerrymandering cases, that these are political questions beyond the reach of the Supreme Court.
Trump’s strategy is to 1. Identify elected Democrats in races which Trump will designate as having been “stolen” and order Homeland Security instruct the DOJ to investigate. 2. Trump will order enough such investigations by the DOJ as to confer upon the Republican majorities in Congress a cover to delay the January,2027 swearing in of such Democrats until both the DOJ and Congressional investigations of such allegedly “fake” elections are completed, which will take just about 2 years.
This sinister plot is all about preventing the courts from ruling on Congressional issues which Trump’s personal, political and governmental lawyers will claim violate the separation of powers doctrine built into the U.S. Constitution.
Our courts need to step up to the plate to accelerate the adjudications of the legitimacy of such elections to pull the rug out from under Trump’s and the Republicans’ conspiracy to hang on to controlling Congress until the end of Trump’s term.
Do not overlook Utah. Utahns are still very, very angry at Republicans at all levels and House Republicans have been MIA. They haven't bothered campaigning against their Democrat opponents and while Ben McAdams is quite likely going to win House District 1, House Districts 2 and 3 have fantastic candidates, Peter Crosby and Kent Stewart Udell. Both are doing fairly well in their districts and the races against their Republican opponents might be closer than anyone realizes. I wouldn't be surprised if Utah ends up with three Democrats in the House.
Read The Nerd Reich by Gil Duran and all of these actions make complete sense. The tech billionaires and their allies have been working to replace democratic governments, and in fact countries worldwide (starting with the US), with a corporate network of city-states run by CEOs with no restraints on their power – no regulations or laws, a complete free-for-all – this is what they mean by “liberty”. The steps to get to this state of “liberty” have already been taken – fire government employees (DOGE), disable Congress, ignore the law, engage a private security force (ICE, militias, even the military), own the media and communications, take over educational institutions, get around financial regulations by creating an alternative to money as we know it (crypto), and let AI loose without any kind of regulation whatsoever. Sound familiar?
