The Jesuit magazine America boasted that Roman Catholics were courted by 47 and helped him win. What did that courting look like in a hierarchal faith tradition that demands obedience? Did right-wing clerics direct parishioners in their voting?
On the west coast, Sen Noel Frame reported “The Department of Justice is effectively teaming up with Washington’s Catholic bishops to overturn the state’s mandatory reporting law, in one of the most aggressive federal moves to back organized religion in recent memory.”
If I’m not RC but my grandchildren are and their church does good work. I hope that ongoing boundary blurring by fringe RC clergy doesn’t jeopardize their tax-exempt status.
Phil Williams serves in my district of Northern Alabama as U.S. Attorney. Alex Aronson couldn’t be more accurate in his summation of these new interim U.S. attorney’s. Williams doesn’t like being called out on his incompetence and false narratives. Williams for sure is serving to please Donald Trump not the people of the United States or the people of Alabama or the constitution. He will talk a good talk but his actions when he served in the state legislature as a state senator doesn’t match the best interests of the people he represents.
