One burning question. If Trump were to order the Insurrection Act in a near future protest (some speculate April 20), what legal recourse do protestors have in the moment? How will this look one week later, one month later. How does Mr. Eisen see this playing out. What sort of plan could be developed in advance?
I am going to continue complaining, respectfully, to Republicans in Congress. Especially about PIno's plan to celebrate Flag Day, June 14th ( also his birthday)with a military parade of tanks, soldiers. ( 20 million dollars at tax payers expense. HELL NO!) Stalin did it. Putin does it. Why doesn't he ask his boyfriend Musk to pay. Is this flexing muscles at the 56 thousand plus Greenlanders? That is Not American. I'm up for going to DC that same Saturday to protest such an atrocity. Disgusting 🫣.
Since it appears that the conservative members of SCOTUS are going to rubber stamp all of Trumps actions, they can now restart sending innocent immigrants to prison in El Salvador, what is our recourse when the courts fail us?
Trump has lost many of his major supporters for several reasons. I still think national security is his Achilles heel. E.G. https://www.kyivpost.com/opinion/50094
Trump and Musk oppose each other on tariffs. Today, Musk is asking for a tariff free zone that encompasses the EU.
Trump and a few Republicans oppose each other on deportations. I've been asking people to pressure our three amigos, and contact CANF, the Cuban American National Foundation.
Trump and some Congressional Republicans oppose each other re Musk/DOGE.
Last week, 4 Republican senators voted to exempt Canada from tarriffs, and Grasseley sponsored a bill to revoke Trump's authority re tariffs.
With help of some Republican constituents and donors who now realize that all are compromised, we might get shared government.
Of Course Trump Will Tank the Economy. It’s What Republicans Do. CRFB on Senate GOP: The Senate Republican's budget resolution abandons all semblance of fiscal responsibility. When will MSM stop calling Republican fraudsters & budget busters "conservative"? Fiscally conservative Committee for Responsible Federal Budget says: “It’s impossible to overstate how destructive this budget proposal could become for our fiscal path and the very foundations of the budget process itself” https://www.crfb.org/press-releases/senate-abandons-all-semblance-fiscal-responsibility?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
I know others have posted this complaint, and they have been mocked by other subscribers, but I willingly and quickly subscribed to the Contrarian because I loyally read Ms Rubin at WP and wanted more. But despite endless links that say "read full story", the Contrarian is offering nothing for a person who, for a variety of reasons, wants to READ the full story. I cannot play videos as it disturbs my dying husband. The transcriptions that follow along the videos are glitchy, distracting, and move at a much slower pace than I read. And "read in app" is misleading. I expect I will continue to pay the money but at least could your news updates clearly state "See and hear the videos! No reading material will be provided." Then I will pay the money for other people to get your product and stop getting hooked by false advertising.
Urge Gov. Stein of North Carolina and all governors of coastal and border states to declare North Carolina or their state a FREE TRADE ZONE. likewise the mayor of port cities. Trump tariffs will become irrelevant, as trump himself should become irrelevant. Act NOW. Be Firm. Trump smells weakness like Hitler smelled weakness in Chamberlain. Act NOW. Before we realize it is too late to prevent Trump from Constitutionally order our military to invade Canada or Greenland or Panama or Mexico or Russia. Russia already has an advantage in arctic experience and equipment.
It is urgent to block Trump's destruction of the Constitution, but it specifically declares him CIC of the military. Love, Doc www.dykers.com
