The D.C. takeover proves Democrats are the true law-and-order party
When federal agents deploy to the streets of our cities, we naturally focus on what we see them doing—the arrests, the unmarked cars, the men with masks—and what it means for civil liberties and constitutional democracy in America.
Building resilience against hate: Marylin Rodriguez on preventing extremism in universities
The BRICK (Building Resilient and Inclusive Communities of Knowledge) toolkit is a guide for the higher education community "meant to help you understand and establish strategies to prevent hateful, discriminatory, and marginalizing attitudes in your community."
Brian Flores has an American institution—the NFL—on the verge of divulging its dreadful nature
By Carron J. Phillips
In a country where football and politics often reflect each other, corruption finally being exposed would bring a dose of much-needed optimism.
A nation's memory is not a political weapon
By Jeff Nesbit
It’s the complex, unvarnished story of where we’ve been and a guide for where we must go. And now, it is under attack.
Sex and the City Fans Deserved Better than And Just Like That
I stuck with And Just Like That through two seasons of Che Diaz and their “comedy concerts.” I endured the agonizing return of Aidan Shaw, Carrie’s patronizing ex-fiance, now morphed into a MAHA-coded dad who refused to treat his teenager’s ADHD with medication. I didn’t quit the show…

A Nation’s Memory is Not a Political Weapon by Jeff Nesbitt was so well written and appropriate for today and what’s happening in Washington D. C.. Jen Rubin’s column on Joni Ernst’s senate seat was especially good as well and creates food for thought on all the U.S. Senate races for 2026. No shortage of good writing at The Contrarian.
I subscribe to this substack because I trust, and believe in the people who work for, and write for those of us Americans who still want truth. Could someone please look into the fact that Democrats need a Leader. I believe we are working on delivering another blow to our party if we do not discover a voice for our party...someone we can get to know far prior to the next presidential election. Is it Gavin Newsome? I'm good with almost anyone who can get the job done for a Win by the Democratic Party.
