Having no doubt spent much of his business career like a mobster paying off people to get what he wanted, Trump is now putting that experience to work in offering to pay out of the U.S. Treasury with taxpayer money $790 billion to all voters in the November 3 Congressional elections ONLY if those elections result in the Republicans taking both Houses of Congress.
Most people refer to this as “buying votes” which is most likely a crime under federal statutes 52 United States Code Section 10307c and 18 United States Code Section 597.
Given that 158 million people voted in the 2024 election and Trump is promising them $5,000 each if they vote to give both Houses of Congress to his sycophantic cowardly
Republicans whom he would order to release the $790 million dollars of taxpayer money, Trump’s bribe would probably be the largest reported bribe in American history. Such a distinction would no doubt be his only achievement for which he as President would come out as number one.
Before anyone thinks about getting down in the sewer to collect the $5,000 should the Republicans take both houses, they should be aware of massive lawsuits that will challenge his bribe as unconstitutional and unlawful, which could be tied up in the courts for decades during which a Democratic President would rescind the offer and the courts nullify it.
Given Trump’s increasingly frequent nocturnal displays of juvenile fantasies, delusions, self-admiration and megalomania, we can expect that his self-implosion will precede any resolution of his massive bribe offer, no matter which party or parties control the House and Senate.
