Just to piggyback on the poor schools concern... Just read today that US literacy has dropped 12% since 2017. Time to get rid of vouchers (rich people welfare) and properly pay and staff public schools and get our performance on the three Rs back on track. .

One part of the literacy problem is the use of technology by children and parents alike. There is less & less verbal conversation or discussions. It is TOO EASY to be entertained for hours by tech and TOO EASY to pretend that one is learning as they use it. The last time in classrooms, I saw too many students "learning with a computer", not being challenged, working on other hw, having music in their ears, etc. With AI, the lazy way out is the road taken. The devastation of Covid and the limited interaction between human beings is noticed every day. It was a pandemic with many consequences - none of which have been addressed by parents or school professionals. Somehow, magically, teachers are supposed to "bring kids up to standards" WITHOUT any resources, without enough time on task, and without any money.

The GOP throughout this nation has ONLY worked to destroy our public schools, by encouraging home schooling (which rarely is successful), vouchers, private schools, charters, religious schools. NONE of these are equivalent to the best public schools which exist in the wealthiest communities of the nation. We have NEVER properly funded our schools.
