Hi! I signed up last year to work my first election as an election inspector/poll worker, and I'm already signed up for this year. I take a vacation day from my day job to do it. It is a very long day (17 hrs in NYS, w/2 30 minute breaks). But, it is SOOOOO rewarding. If you can work it out, it really is a great experience.
I have been a poll worker since the 2020 general election. It's a long day, but the satisfaction of helping to keep democracy running is worth it. Side benefits include getting to spend a day with wonderful fellow poll workers, and occasionally treats brought by grateful voters! Please join us!
I am in my 8th election as a Poll Worker - and I am there to verify that voters are given every opportunity to vote as a volunteer Poll Watcher inside the voting room as many days as my schedule allows during Early Voting and on Election Day. Each year, I am moved to awe by the dedication of the workers who are well trained and understand the protocol of each election cycle - even though the rules change slightly every time. We are not allowed to talk to voters or paid poll workers because we are to watch and listen only. However, if we see something - we are to say something to the Clerk in charge so that a misunderstanding can be corrected immediately. I serve in Hillsborough County Florida.
I became a poll worker this spring and worked the state primary election in June. I also found it rewarding despite the long day. I learned just how secure our elections are. I think every voter should attend a poll worker training session. If they did, they would understand that concerns about election security are entirely unfounded.
For decades..I’ve grown elder being a ballot clerk! The basics of democracy in action, I always feel immensely moved and honored to be asked back, to take the oath to support the constitution..and the of course to, on the given day, be steady, attentive, courteous, encouraging, congratulatory, to each voter.
Thanks for this great information. My neighbor works at our polling precinct but I haven’t seen her the last couple times I voted. I will have to check into it! Thanks for the inspiration.
I've been a poll worker since 2020 and am now an assistant precinct manager in Georgia. Election day is a long day (5:30 until 9:30) but our team is a good one and it's actually kind of fun, in an exhausting way. Welcoming people in to vote is a privilege and a way for me to give back to my community. Those who make rules about elections need to work an election!
I was a poll worker for 35 years, I’m 86, so no longer physically able to work those 15 hour days. I would love to go back, but it would compromise my health.

I've done it before and there's no better way to understand what absolute horseshit Trump's whining about elections is. Elections ARE fair!
As one of my fellow poll workers put it, anybody who thinks elections are rigged should work one and see how it's nearly impossible to do!
