we do not hae a democracy because of the electoral college...and a few other things

The Electoral College was originally put in place to protect us from “mob rule” by ensuring that a select group of presumably wise people actually picked the President. Perversely, it’s turned out to enshrine minority/majority rule and to effectively limit national elections to a handful of swing states. That winds up de facto limiting/eliminating the importance of Presidential votes for people in huge swaths of the country. I’m skeptical (at best) that this is what the Founding Fathers had in mind.

unfortunately, I think it's EXACTLY what they had in mind to maintain control by "the wealthy, the wellborn, and the wise" and it has to go !

Thank you, Ben, for confirming what I've been saying for a long time: Ronald Reagan was a great president only for the rich. He made it possible for them to get richer all the time on the backs of the poor and middle class. The billionaire class should get down on their knees every day to thank him.

Reagan also made it possible for entertainment like Faux Spews, Newsmax, Breitbart and other right wing professional liars to be viewed as mainstream by the ignorant, thanks to the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine.

And let's not forget the Iran-Contra deal.

The United States is not a democracy because of the structure of the Senate. The Senate is the most undemocratic legislative body in the world. Each state gets 2 Senators do matter their population:

California has a population of about 39 million people Wyoming has about 600,000.
