In a perfect world, the powers that be would investigate the loss of a Black teenager in a white friend group as thoroughly as if the roles were reversed.
While one could hope race relations had gotten better by 2016, the incredible damage done by the orange convicted felon and his mindless followers since 2017 will take many more decades to be undone.
But our esteemed and infallible SCOTUS has proclaimed racism in America a thing of the past, hence no need for the Voting Rights Act. They couldn't possibly be wrong, could they?
The long list of people killed because they dared to exist in a White space just got longer. We must remember this young man's name and image, keep him in our hearts, and hope justice will be served.
How horrifying! These anti-Black hate crimes happen too often to the point they barely or never get mentioned in mainstream media. Recent FBI statistics (at least prior to the current administration) listed black people as one of the main targets of hate crimes. How far we’ve come and not come since Emmett Till. Just because it’s not in the news does not mean it’s not happening. This also reminds me of how the rapes of Native American women by racist, manifest destiny seeking white men today are barely, if ever covered by the media. In fact, Native women experience a higher rate of sexual assaults than any other female racial group in the U.S. There was a PBS documentary on that a few years ago.
Is the lynching reference to Cindy Hyde-Smith, Republican running again for re-election in the Mississippi trad of Senator and Mrs. Eastland, the 3 missing persons of Freedom Summer? Why there is hesitancy calling Trump a racist since Roy Cohn defended his housing from accepting blacks defies.
This breaks the heart and sickens the soul. I see greatness in this young man. We have to find a way to wash out the hatred deeply embedded in the hearts of those who can't let racism go and find in its place a heart for peace and brotherhood.

I hope Nolan 's family continues to demand an investigation into his death. They deserve to know what happened to their son.
As for thr GOP's "pro-life": that has ALWAYS been about controlling women.
