Thank you Congressman Malinowski for your analysis.
As for "Given the stakes in Ukraine, I truly hope he can pull it off. But we should all be prepared for disappointment.". Trump and the Republican party NEVER disappoint me. I fully expect them to negotiate whatever is in their own financial interest and nothing else.
Jabba may throw little toddler tantrums, but the real Daddy is Putin, and Jabba knows it. Putin laughed at him just a few days ago, so now Jabba has to go and tell Daddy he is sorry.
This is not a normal administration. It's filled with crazies who don't do their homework, proclaim absurdities and assert as true things that do not make any sense. Why? Because their boss does exactly the same.
I predict this will not turn out well for Ukraine at all.
Trump has no chance versus Putin, for so many reasons...starting with Trump's "deal of the day" orientation versus Putin's vision for the long haul. Putin has known how to handle Trump for a long time -- what else would you have expected from a high-ranking KGB officer?
Has Mr. Malinowski been in a coma for the past several years?
Because that's the only thing I can come up with to explain this incredibly naive belief that Trump isn't Putin's Poodle. Trump has defended Putin since 2016 and supported Russia's invasion of Ukraine since 2022. He only recently mumbled a few words of disappointment with Putin, but it was couched in the usual "two weeks" narrative, which just passed with no action. And his fool envoy Witkoff, who has no clue and who uses Russian translators, is bringing the same "deal" Trump proffered earlier, which amounts to giving Russia everything they want.
Why are you even talking about what happens "in a normal administration?"
Thank you for helping me understand how Trump’s bluster around Ukraine intersects with global energy markets and what he should be doing compared to what he is doing. I’m better informed as I hear that we can now expect a meet-up of Putin and Trump in Alaska. Hosting Putin on our soil should not be happening under the circumstances, I understand.
I think "turning on Putin" is a ruse to make us think he isn't doing all kinds of under the table maneuvers with Russia. Look at the fact he invited Putin to Alaska - Putin is under indictment. And as Andrew Weissman observed, giving Russia all of Eastern Ukraine is what Paul Manafort was working on in 2016.
I started out marching and writing letters and calling Congressman - but I'm losing steam: we are an autocracy.
We are being "led" by a immoral and unethical person who is also suffering from some kind of dementia, whether "senile dementia," or Alzheimer's, like his father. And his strings are being pulled by the monied ghouls who want to destroy the Republic in favor of an oligarchic kakistocracy.
Thank you for your input and analysis, Congressman.
If Trump is now deciding who can attend UN meetings in New York, it is probably time for the UN to hold it's General Assembly meetings at its Geneva headquarters.

I think Trump is still a TACO.
You want "traditional diplomacy" from this bunch, who send a real-estate developer to Putin to do a genuine diplomat's work. Dream on.

Just a show and a distraction for #PedoPOTUS to try to make us forget Epstein. He is still scared of what Putin knows and can do to him.

I do not believe Trump's administration can pull off anything the least bit diplomatic to help.

TACO again; rinse and repeat!
The article is good.
Hell no, he isn’t.
