They did another commercial only where George said, “Billy, you’re hired.” Billy did say, “Not again.” Then you hear George say, “Did I say ‘hired’?”

Do you recall the SNL skit in which Steinbrenner himself appears as the Manager of a 7-11 / bodega? In it, the shop is way OVER staffed, and when SNL cast member playing a reporter asks Steinbrenner "WHY are there so many clerks in this tiny store?", Steinbrenner deadpans, "Well you can't fire people. You just can't do that. It's not right." It was brilliant. And I always admired George Steinbrenner for his ability to not take himself too seriously.
