Looking at the earth from far away is nothing short of a miracle come to life. Thanks to the astronauts, technicians, scientists and other personnel who provided us with this awesome view of our planet. We were able to pause from the disturbances upon its surface to look on with wonder. We need to work far more diligently and competently to preserve it.
I take special pride in revisiting the trajectory of the moon mainly because I have some family members who have been involved in this endeavor for quite a while now. I cannot wait until the Artemis program is back on the moon and our expansion into deep space and scientific progress is able to continue.
What ties all this greatness together? In a single word collaboration. These astronauts are working for and on a common goal. Giving everything they have got, they’ve accomplished something special and when we all do the same as ordinary people we accomplish something special. When we collaborate we all achieve something extraordinary.
Sorry, I just couldn't resist that. It's great that we can still engage in this kind of operation. It requires scientific knowledge and expertise which I admit I don't have as STEM was not my thing in high school and college. And if Trump has his way, no one will have it and if they do, it will be used for developing cheap entertainment.
Great article and super pictures. I especially like the one where the four astronauts are embracing. That is exactly what this country needs in the dark times it's going through right now.
Thank you for this inspirational presentation. Just want to make a quick correction ... the "dark side", which is actually the "far side" of the moon, the side we do not see from earth, is NOT constantly lit. It gets the same amount of light from the sun as the "near side", the side we see does, that is, half the time it is lit, and half the time it is not.
More please. I cannot imagine any human not tearing up after reading this again after actually witnessing it live. Thank you

Lily, absolutely beautiful writing and reflecting on the miracle of earth.
Yesterday, the Polish manager of our Essex hotel left his shift, donning his NASA jacket, grinning with moonjoy. It's a global phenomenon.
They were lucky to be picked up after splashdown before the Navy could bomb them as suspected drug smugglers.
