IMPORTANT -- Language: We need an easy way to identify information coming from the current administration vs. former administrations. For example, when an article says " . . .the Department of Energy said: . . ." I want to know which DOE -- the current one or the (correct) one from "before"? Can we use "BT" and "AT"?
This is disappointing me. I want to read facts with informed analysis, but the adjectives you include, like “creepy” oligarch, makes me not trust your neutral reporting. I don’t mind the occasional joke post, but overall, I’m looking for what you can’t find on msnbc or cnn or fox: unrelentless commitment to the truth, educating us with facts and perspective. I’m so tired of the adjectives.
I’m a paid subscriber from day 1 but I’m having trouble finding anything to read. If you’re planning mostly podcasts at least provide a transcript. Also the site is frustrating sending me in circles making me sign in multiple times even while it says subscribed with a big check mark ☑️. I’ll hang in for awhile to see where you’re going with this but I need more information and serious analysis. When I click on a headline I expect to see an article, not a page of reader comments.
Totally agree that transcripts of audio interviews should be provided!
When I am having trouble navigating the platform, I often return to my email, where links have been sent. Using the link provided in the email usually gets my screen to the right place.
The site keeps asking me to sign in multiple times too, for every single article linked. Like you I'd prefer to see an article not a page of user comments.
This is a bit off topic, but I want to publicize a post from JVL at The Bulwark where he lists Fight Club rules, something we Democrats have never learned. From Rule 3:
"Are you a Democratic officeholder? Great. Buy a plane ticket to Nairobi.
"When you get there, go to the Mathare settlement and talk to people who are going to die because Musk shut off their HIV medication when he closed down USAID. Get out your phone and take video of these conversations. Post them on YouTube, TikTok, Insta—everywhere.
"Tell the real stories of actual people who are going to die because of Elon Musk. It won’t be hard to find them. This isn’t an actuarial game where programmatic cuts will, at some future date, result in an increased death rate for nameless, faceless people. You can find the actual human beings who are going to die. You can talk to them. You can share their stories and ask your fellow Americans, 'Is this what you voted for?'”
I've written to my Republican reps to stop the takeover by unelected government contractor Musk, who is tied to China and Russia and has a conflict of interests.
We need to pressure the 20 or so Repubblican House members that Hakeem Jeffries has identified as vulnerable. We have three (3) where I live. Only takes 2 to flip the House.
The 3 Batistiano House MAGATS here represent a Dem majority but are very sympathetic to the Cubans and Venezuelans here on cancelled humantarian visas. 2 of 3 had been Dems.
I previously posted the letter from my rep to the Trump administration asking "no mas."
I reminded them that Miami is the de-facto financial capitol of Venezuela and that hundreds of thousands of jobs depend on our international banking industry. Yesterday, Trump sent deportees to concentration camps in Git-mo. He has plans to denaturalize US citizens and deport them. Rep Carlos Gimenez was born in Cuba. Was a Democrat until 2020, when he switched parties. He sup[ported HRC in 2016. Was elected as a Democratic mayor. As # 45 Trump started the process. https://immpolicytracking.org/media/documents/ACLU_Fact_Sheet_on_Denaturalization.pdf Now, they will seek to denaturalize and deport people who made errors in their initial applications. https://immigrationforum.org/article/trumps-first-100-days-potential-immigration-actions/
I have offered a common name for the psychopathic neo-fascists that is deadly accurate. They cannot escape it. The dictionary stands with me on that. The name is not MAGATS. I am not telling you what it is.
The words are piled on top of each other. I cannot read your information. Is a refund possible? I am very disappointed as I know this is important news. But if I cannot read it, it is not helpful.
Could I suggest "using instructions" to manage your site?
Yes, the words on my iPad are piled on top of each other too- unreadable. The roundups barely say anything. The last full article I was able to read was Paul Krugman’s piece.
After reading the article in your old paper, WAPO, on USAID, please consider the deserved plight of America’s farmers in the red states . USAID purchased billions of dollars of produce for shipment overseas and that is not only on hold, but will bankrupt farmers counting on that income. The unpicked without immigrant labor will rot on the vine and in the fields.
While Trump's proposal for ethnic cleansing/forced evacuation & other war crimes will likely never be realized (in his lifetime), much of MSM engages in shameless normalization of depraved criminality…
MAGA GOP intend to carry on Trump's criminality well after he's gone & MSM’s normalization of their criminality enables it.
“There’s nothing admirable about tossing off absurd and impossible solutions to intractable dilemmas. If smart people are convincing themselves otherwise, it suggests to me a desperation to find rationality where there is none.
…(with Trump’s) renewed rhetoric of American empire, he’s removed any pretense that other countries should be limited by anything except their own might. He has created a de facto justification not only for Israeli expansionism, but for Chinese and Russian expansionism as well."
Who has seized control of ~20% of federal payment & employment control systems with his illegal hackers? Musk with tens of billions in government contracts & companies that paid zero taxes...who has promised pain for the middle class & needy while he enriches himself & other uber wealthy authoritarians. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QXQWHdSMcM
We were never able to experience the extent of Trump's illness. Now we can.
Purchase Greenland or Panama, and now Gaza. The man is insane. What will it take for the Democrats to acknowledge his mania? We can not depend upon the Democrats in Congress to act with a backbone, nor can we expect the democratic party to recognize the walking dead Republicans sitting next to them in Congress.
BUT WE DO HAVE STATES WITH POWER.
The battle over states' rights has been part of our history since 1770. The Continental Congress of 1778 was not this wonderful gathering of intelligent representatives deciding to form a new country; it was a power struggle between existing states defending their interests. States were arguing over what would determine who could vote and how many votes each state would have. However, the most debated topic was that the states feared the newly formed federal government would reduce the state's rights.
The Constitution has 27 Amendments, the first 10 of which are called the Bill of Rights. States should review the Tenth Amendment, which addresses their concern about losing power. This amendment states, "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively or to the people."
States are our only remaining defense against Trump's dictatorship and Crazy Musk.
GAME PLAN FOR THE DEMOCRATIC STATES.
We have thirteen democratic states with democratic governors, and the governors of those states should start organizing and uniting to develop plans to resist and destroy these corrupt anarchists.
These governors should organize a three-day conference to establish a unified detailed plan for securing and fortifying their states against the invasion of the state's federal armed Gestapo.
This conference will include attorneys, professors, knowledgeable authors, and activists. These governors should establish and announce the formation of an official permanent organization with a secured budget, a chairperson, a funded and established legal department, and advisory committees for orientating their states' local police forces and a department for public information. As an organized body, states must assume their state's sovereign rights and research all legal avenues of defense against this violation of their state's rights.
PS. In a special session of the state congress for the Protection of California Values, Governor Newsom proposed a litigation fund to bolster the state's legal resources.
Like many other concerned citizens I have been extremely overwhelmed by the amount of negative actions the Trump Administration has already put in place and the speed in which it is happening. I have been amazed at the easy acceptance Republicans appear to have for any and all actions taken by Musk and Trump. It just seemed so blatantly easy for all of them to not offer any resistance to the EOs or appointments . So I have tried thinking outside the box for a reason for this. Other than holding family members hostage, the only thing that made sense was that Musk has assured all Republican office holders of a government position for life with Musk providing money and perks for their families as well. No worries about getting reelected as all the elections would be fixed. This is the only thing that makes sense to me for Republican lack of concern as our government gets dismantled and citizens are terrorized.
Why doesn’t this site figure out a way to get the word out that IEPs for special needs kids will Ho away. Over 7,00,000 kids get these programs! How can we get these parents calling their congress person and bitching to the tune of 1600 calls per minute to stop this! Parents want their kids to get help. This affects autistic kids and those kids have some real movers and shakers in that group! This needs a lot of more publicity. States handle education curriculum and teacher training but other programs come to DOE! I am a retired teacher.
We declare rights, but we have none, unless we also have a government dedicated to preserving and maintaining those rights. We have had to fight several wars to maintain a government so dedicated. The first war was to avoid having a king. And we had an awful war to avoid having slaves. Love, Doc see "Every War Is An UnCivil War" amazon kindle/paperback
I think its time to use the term "totalitarian" to describe Trump's governmental policies. It's just as accurate as "dictatorial" or "autocratic" but it might actually wake a few people up. The term is one that many Americans associate with evil, and in this case, rightly so.

JVL's other good advice: find better communicators to tell the real stories of actual people and send Sen. Schumer to the basement.
