Sounds delicious. Many years ago, when we got our first refrigerator (yes, I am that old), my mother made lemon ice cream for dessert every Sunday. This went on for probably an entire year, until no one in the family would eat the ice cream anymore, except mother, of course.
In the intervening years, I hadn't eaten lemon ice cream until about five years ago and discovered I really liked it! So now I get a small container about once per year, although it is hard to find.
I remember my grandparent’s ice box “on the farm”. We actually had to buy a cube of ice (which was an adventure in itself) to create the cold. It had a space rocket looking fan on the top that circulated the cold. I guess that makes me BF - before freon :)
You’re a baby. We had a cellar. That’s where the shower was located. Cold as hell even in the summer. You ran down there with several layers of clothes and took the quickest shower you can imagine. I remember when they got their first indoor bathroom. My tiny youngest brother got his little finger slammed in the door thanks to me. It was a great bathroom. Much better than the outhouse.
Well I’m going to make this tomorrow. Arizona summer here but we do screw the planet with AC everywhere. I like to think of the people here who lived without AC - breezeways, thick adobe walls, sleeping in wet sheets . .
Looks amazing and probably has a velvety mouth feel!

I hope you try making it with my recipe! Please let me know if you do!
I definitely will do both.

My great-grandpa founded Liberty Coal and Ice in Albany, New York. They’d deliver coal all winter and blocks of ice all summer!
Funny, I remember those, too, from before we got our first refrigerator. God, now I feel really old!

This is perfect!
Thank you, Allison!
