Hubby and I cast our ballots today in NC! First day of early in-person voting. The polling place was packed, long line, but everybody seemed to be in a jovial mood. I'm taking that as a good sign! ❤️🤍🌊
NH voter here. We don’t have early voting. We have limited absentee voting, which as you note, requires an legal excuse. You submit this in writing and it’s a legal document. Then you are mailed or pick up your ballot. People have already been doing that. They can do that as soon as the ballots are available. The only voters who can use this method are those who are out of town on Election Day, physically disabled, caring for someone who is, a full-time caregiver, or religious worship prevents voting that day. These rules are evident voter suppression rules. Rs are in control and they want to keep people from voting.
There is growing frustration on both sides with the status quo. I know, I’m angry too. But without any bipartisanship the dems will just be spinning wheels legislatively for two years. This leaves them with the temptation to investigate Trump and his cabal for two years, possibly impeaching again, without effect again. Knowing full well that this will simply anger the republicans and may result in the democrats losing any change for a president in 2028.
I think the strategic move would be to sell the country on establishing an independent commission (like the 9/11 commission) to look into what happened over the last two years and recommend changes needed to prevent such a reoccurrence. Where appropriate they could recommend legal action.
This would limit the appearance of political retribution by the democrats and have the added benefit of providing a path for democrats and republicans to put in place more protections to prevent another play for authoritarian rule.
Florida early voting starts October 19th also!

Voted blue no matter who on October 5.
Another Plea for ending the Partisan wars.
