"Alas, all this attention and free publicity will probably ensure that Gillis will return to host SNL next year." I'll meet your alas and raise you an alack, Meredith. I'm old enough to have watched SNL's debut and used to be a faithful viewer, but the show has given the spotlight to WAY too many untalented, gratuitously offensive "comics" for me to tune in regularly. Clearly, I'm not SNL's target demographic.

No--he is tragic.

Agreed. Gillis is a forgettable ass, a loud mouth whom no one will remember down the road.

SNL this season has been lame and lacking creative spark. The GIllis episode was simply a new low in what seems to be a series heading for the trash bin if they don't hire some better fresh talent. Do any young people watch it? None I know of.

I agree with you. The cold open was weak. Then Gillis said the W word, I turned off SNL, never saw the rest of the show.

Gillis isn’t funny. Hardly a chuckle through the entire SNL show. Why is he popular - do Joe Rogan fans only laugh at stupid, nasty jokes?

I watched the Gillis monologue not knowing who he is. I thought it completely cringe and unfunny. There have been better comedians at the local club's amateur night.

(& Shane Jones is even less funny) 🙃🤮

The UK definitely has no love lost for Israel, as most recent news indicates, so for it to call out the group Rooney helps fund as a terrorist organization tells something about both the organization and Rooney.

Love Papyrus!

Yes, his monologue was cringe-worthy and unfunny, but his sketch appearances were well done. He’s talented, but not as a stand-up.

Thank you, I love the contrarian approach to SNL. We need to laugh about it.

Sorry, SNL LOST MY VIEWERSHIP
