Ambiguity is useful as a smokescreen, while Tehran moves ahead with what it was going to do anyway. And as another article questioned, why has Trump said nothing about North Korea's nuclear program since his initial suck-up to its leadership? All Iran has to do is follow that successful playbook.

The Ayatollahs are piranhas, feasting on their own people. & now they’re feasting on the Moron-in-Chief who has once again proven that racist reactionaries can’t govern.

He’s made a “Deal” that has no closure.

What a Maroon.

"...he (Trump) can impose control on disorder."

Trump imposes entropy onto order. Always.

I personally think Jimmy Carter was a good President handed a raw deal. There is still suspicion that Ronald Reagan may have sent emissaries to Tehran telling them to hold off long enough to allow him to win the election, and he would give them a better deal. Who knows?

Any comparison of Donald Trump to Jimmy Carter is egregious. Carter’s presidency was certainly not the best 4 years in our history, but it did not give Iran what Trump’s MOU gave to Iran. This is one of the most humiliating agreements, if not the most, ever written. Macron did us a favor by having Trump sign it before he left the G7 conference. Trump’s behavior and speech at the conference were humiliating as well. From what little I saw and read regarding his presence, he was treated as the pariah he is. He looked like a doddering old man, weak and cognitively impaired. He damaged our standing in NATO and the world. The only way to salvage anything out of this whole mess is a resounding impeachment with every one of his crimes cited. I don’t know if there’s any way to seize the money he has “stolen” and then prosecute him for his crimes against the emoluments clause in the Constitution. He should not leave office as a billionaire, and his children and Jared Kushner should not be allowed to reap their gains. Unfortunately, that has been done and can probably not be undone. Maybe Blanche’s sneaky add on to the slush fund can be removed and the family left open to audits by the IRS. This is nothing but words with no force, just saying what I believe in my current state of anger at what this man and his Republican legislature have done. Impeach him and regain some modicum of respect that they have frittered away to save their office while betraying our country.

You are always thoughtful, calm, factual, insightful. We get our troops safe, I hope, and can watch DJT getting endlessly poked about this. But what do you see with the next administration? Is resolution possible with Iran's new 'nuclear' option being the Strait of Hormuz? I don't understand the desire to wipe out people because of different beliefs so your insights on that would be helpful too. Thank you.
