Well said! They could cook the books, as you say, though it will take some work. Or, their new, corrupt commissioner, should he get confirmed, could say “because of the poor quality of the data [total BS of course] we are no longer going to release it.”
That would be a page from China’s playbook when they don’t like the numbers.
Of course, if they go there, we will all know what they’re hiding.
Let us praise and be thankful for the "deep state," which was always doing a conscientious job for the American people, and resisting the corrupting influence of politics.
Investors, who tend to pay attention to these numbers all the time, look at BLS data but they also look at ADP job numbers, which are not produced by the government. "The ADP National Employment Report is a monthly, independent, high frequency measure of the private-sector labor market. The report is based on the real-world anonymized and aggregated payroll data of more than 26 million U.S. workers." https://adpemploymentreport.com/
As I understand it, the BLS numbers generally don't match the ADP numbers because the payroll numbers used by the latter come in sooner than what the government sees and also the ADP report only covers private companies and a subset of those at that, I think, because it depends upon payroll software that not every company uses. But it shows trends pretty well and over time it should correlate with the BLS numbers. If the two types of data don't correlate over a number of months, it would suggest that there is something wrong with somebody's data.
The long-run correlation between ADP and BLS numbers is generally pretty low, so I don't think this would be a good tell. I really do think seeing a large amount of resignations would happen first!
Nope -- not until the Inspectors General are back from the council https://www.ignet.gov/-- and neutral to party will I believe the numbers.. And I am not going to consider myself an expert to know when someone is fibbing with them (That is why people go to school and get trained in that field)

I'm begging the Trump Admin to not force us to use electricity usage stats to estimate GDP!
