It's always heartening when "unsung heroes" get their day. I'm sure in any industry, at any time, there are many who are nameless but who contribute or make things possible.

Like the "background actors" that Ryan Reynolds highlights here:

Even if you're just "Woman Jogger" or "Man with briefcase" and don't even show up in the credits, you still have to be on set for makeup and wardrobe, know your cues, and don't make the director yell "CUT!"

I’ve been an extra in a couple of things - one you might recognize another you would not.

It was great fun and I’d do it again if it would not conflict with my current schedule, as it has with the last two casting calls I was interested in.

The most fascinating part to me is the casting. Always thought I’d be good at that. Thanks for this.

I enjoyed it very much.

And next year, at long last, the Academy will FINALLY honor stunt work.

Jebus, they are really, really stuck in their ways, aren't they? Whole movies have been devoted to stunt folk. Like, decades ago.

I have a cousin in Jacksonville Florida who has been casting for a few decades now. She would agree with you on this point.

Enjoyed learning about casting directors and how they look for the right actors to support the story and make the story work. Thank you for this share.

I like the spark that cameos can bring to a film. Particularly in "Sinners"-- my blues idol, Buddy Guy, was the reason I watched the movie. He doesn't play himself... but he does. As a Chicagoan and blues music fan, I have "known" Buddy for 45 years. He's a national treasure. Seeing him standing onstage during the Oscars musical number honoring the film gave me one thrill of a lifetime. Casting him was a stroke of genius.
