I agree that most people do not like extremes. They burn the candle at both ends, leaving everything charred :) I consider the increase of the independent bloc as an optimistic outcome. Votes should be for individual candidates, not for parties. Keep up the good work, Josh Levs.

Thank you for this valuable perspective! It opens us up to thinking about possibilities rather than accepting this as more doom and gloom news. I wonder if the absorption of Black voters into districts that vote Republican might encourage Democrats to be present and campaign in those districts (which they’ve abandoned) and begin to influence how voters think about/understand the issues. This is what Republicans have feared in the past, if I understand your point. Better to segregate voters by race so they can’t ever discover common ground.

Thanks! Those efforts in the past were about the math of it -- with more Black Democrats in a single district, other districts could remain "safer" for Republicans. Common ground is indeed what we need. Most Americans still reject the extremes. The lesson of Hungary was that it's possible to build a coalition by refusing to reward the extremists, and working to bring everyone else together. https://theystandcorrected.substack.com/p/the-crucial-missed-lesson-of-the

The rise of AI has put us in liminal times.

According to the Webster, "Liminal" refers to being on a threshold or in a state of transition "betwixt and between" two states, places, or stages of life. The steadily growing capabilities of AI have made the old times (before AI existed) virtually obsolete. In the blink of an eye AI and LLM's have made age old tactics used in American government so obsolete that the antics of the Trump administration (their war, their Venezuela debacle, their destruction of much of our government infrastructure like Education, etc., etc.) are now being viewed as actions completely without thought.

And, without thought is exactly what they are when you compare their thought with the "thought" generated by these advanced AI LLM's.

The day mankind has been worrying about for decades has arrived. AI has beat us at our own game. It thinks much, much better than we do and it does it one hell of a lot faster and more completely than we could ever do it.

We are now "betwixt and between" the way mankind USED to think (money, power, & force) and the the direction AI LLM's are now surely pointing to (comprehensive thought and rational action based on comprehensive thought).

These liminal times are producing tons of anxiety (and many other very negative side effects).

War and murder are only two.
