"Elon Schimel" "Kneepad Brad"

Thank you. Priceless.

"Susan Crawford was just elected to a 10-year term. Hopefully, by then Musk will have lost interest in destroying the country and picked up a new hobby, like gardening. But though she might never have to face off against Musk again..."

I read that Musk has sued the State of Wisconsin over a law that prevents car makers from owning dealerships--presumable so they don't lock up competition. And that his case may well come before Judge Crawford. Moral of the story, Elmo: don't piss off a judge, i.e., don't shite where you live.

I think your second point is the most important point. “Last but not least, when Democrats organize everywhere, it sends a message to some of the places that swung toward Trump: We want you back. The best way to show voters that we believe in ourselves and our ideas is by being willing to compete anywhere.”

It addresses my concern that Democrats aren’t doing outreach to voters well enough. But in very blue states, is organizing enough of a priority? It needs to be when important voter groups, like Blacks who live on Chicago’s west and south sides, do not turn out in strong numbers to vote.

Democrats have built strong volunteer networks in rural areas in WI that can turn out the vote, according to an article my husband read to me. Also strong networks in college communities, which surprises me less. Republicans relied on hired hands, who worked the suburbs.

I do wonder whether President Obama has been counseling the Illinois Democratic Party on this topic, considering he began as an organizer in Chicago. Or why, frankly, no one would be following in his footsteps without a nudge. And what is the deal with the DNC? They need to be front and center year round.

Let's not fiddle while Rome burns. Listen to Gary Kasparov. They are using every trick in the book to turn our country into an autocratic fascist state.

Thank you for your work on Judge Crawford's campaign. I must admit that your article caused me to think about the impact of Trump's nicknames. When he started running for his first presidency, I remember writing that his only discernible skill was choosing insulting nicknames for people, and he was talented at doing so, because they stuck. I also wrote that it was such a childish, distasteful, and undignified hobby for the president of our country, that I hoped he would stop, which, of course, he never did.

But, now, I can see how using an epithet judiciously can work, I think there’s a value for doing it. But, of course, that’s not why Judge Crawford won.

As “Patrick Guarasci, a senior advisor to the Crawford campaign who has worked on about a half-dozen Supreme Court races, said, ‘there were moments where some campaign staff worried about keeping up with Musk’s bottomless pockets. But, Crawford didn’t flinch, calling her the most focused and driven candidate that he’s worked with.’”

“We did not go looking to pick a fight with the richest man in the world, but we didn’t back down from one.”

And, that is the lesson I hope other Democratic candidates are learning from this victory. Judge Crawford was a great candidate, with a superlative background, strong moral principles, and an unwavering faith in Wisconsin voters! And, they came through for her!
