Let us recall that the "disastrous, haphazard withdrawal" of troops from Afghanistan in 2021 was due Trump suddenly making a deal with the Taliban to do just that. Remember him inviting Taliban leaders to Camp David? Why not just give them the keys to the WH, Donald? That was his idea of a deal--to elevate their legitimacy and give away all leverage. Joe Biden merely played the hand he was dealt in keeping his promise to end our occupation there.

This would be a good time to say, Thank you, Joe Biden, and we miss you.

We miss the Biden of 2022. When Trump has supposedly promised our leaving and even places a date on it, it is incumbent on Biden and the military to plan an exit. By then, the handwriting is on the wall. The Afghan army is not going to resist. That’s when you develop a plan for leaving immediately and leaving from Bagram Air Base, avoiding the chaotic exit from Kabul. I wasn’t there and am not privy to all the situation, but the exit was eerily similar to leaving Vietnam, right down to people trying to grab onto wheels and skids on US helicopters.

We need to hold them ALL responsible

They literally voted not to uphold the law in the Senate yesterday. And the only Democrat to do so was John Fetterman. Can't state enough how he betrayed his voters and the party, and the rest of us who depend on them.

Every Senate session seems to have at least one traitorous DINO. This time it's Fetterman, last time it was Sinema and Manchin.

The lesson here, in the case of Fetterman and Sinema, is do not get drawn in by the media hype that focuses on superficial qualities of the candidates without examining their core beliefs. Manchin is a special case, as he was in West Virginia, although his stranglehold on the Democratic party there did not allow any successor to emerge who might have started shifting from his positions.

The reason there is no exit plan is because the Felon went to war for the sake of Netanyahu, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The Felon is completely transactional. The war is what a $450,000,000 plane and $2,000,000,000 in investment get the Felon. Plus the $billions in cryptocurrency business.

The hard question wasn't "How will this end?"

The hard question was what are you thinking to start a war with Iran when Iran is not an imminent threat.

This entire column is littered with only half disguised admiration for Trump's foreign policy. Starting with the both sides do it of blaming Obama - and then Biden. Heard that before. Continuing with Trump's foreign policy reviews are mixed!!! Skirting by Israel's culpability with a dismissive "Israel made us do it" as if that were just silly.

War Power Resolution vote has marked those who forced war on an American public that overwhelming rejected war. Next is funding. Hopefully Democratic leadership will lead and vote NO on any additional funding.

Rubio is revealing exactly what i said a few days ago: the orange dumpster is the lawless war criminal dog who is getting wagged by the genocidal war criminal tail by the name of Netanyahoo.

We need to control the narrative. The way to support our troops is to get them home as soon as possible. Increasing spending and green lighting more combat operations "because our troops are in danger" doesn't make them safer, it puts a target on their back and greases the wheels of the same machine that killed and wounded tens of thousands of Americans in Iraq. Enough is enough.

Ummm, I see 'diplomacy' mentioned several times. That seems beyond this crew which believes the definition of that word is 'to extort'. If a proper end to this situation depends on diplomacy the ending is a long way aways.

Look at that photo of this man! Posed..acting fierce. Similar to the other one we have had to look at, you know... surface.. playacting..disgusting. He lives in his own world, oblivious to reality, and thinks is he making the world to his liking.

The sheer arrogance of the Dear Leader in thinking he should be the one to decide who the next leader of Iran should be is truly stunning, but not surprising. Malignant narcissists have delusions of grandeur. This war is set to engulf the entire region because of the impulsive and deranged behavior of the Dear Leader and his toady Hegseth. European leaders, who seem to be the most sensible out there must get together and find a way to end this disaster before it gets even worse. But I have little hope that they will be able to control the insane person who is running the asylum. He has been given too much power and like Frankenstein's monster, is beyond control.

I do not understand the argument here. The author appears to think that the Trump regime and congressional Republicans will not be open to setting strategic goals and working to enact them, although it is not clear to me how any of these could be effected, given the damage that has now been done. I doubt the goals outlined here are achievable

Every time I read something like this about the lack of planning beyond the first use of force, I risk misquoting Lewis Carrol from Alice in Wonderland. As she travels down a road, she meets a fork in the road, where she meets the Cheshire Cat. She asks which road to take, and when she asks which road to take, the Cheshire Cat asks where she wants to go. When asked where she wants to go and answers that she doesn’t know, he replies, “Then it doesn’t matter which road you take.”

Jared Kushner told Bob Woodward and others that Allice in Wonderland is the key to understanding Trump.

We are living in a time when the inmates are running the asylum.
